Keep getting emails/post cards to drive for Knight. Have some questions.

A while back she noticed a dent- didn't know how it got there and reported it. She may or may not have done it- but reported it anyway. So now has to pass 2 inspections at CA weigh stations to cancel that out-- even tho she may not have even done it- she simply discovered a dent and reported it because she thought it better to report it than someone else discovering it and if had she not reported it- she would most likely be blamed for doing it and tying to hide it. So dammed if ya do and dammed if ya don't!! Really sucks.

She had told me way back about this and told me she didn't know if it would hinder her from training or not- well apparently it has. She said after she reported it that they said they would investigate it but hadn't herd anything. She gave the location in case there was a camera that might have caught it.
Anyway,They said otherwise she would be good to go. Also her truck needs to go into the shop for a repair so that is going to hold her up too. That wasn't an issue with her training but does eat up more time. She will have a loaner while "her" truck is in the shop so maybe she can get a inspection out of the way with the loaner, than the second one after she gets her regular truck back ,I don't know.

Meanwhile, Since I haven't left my current job yet and than need to take 2-3 weeks off in between to prepare and get things organized at home for my absence. We decided to see where she is at in her progress to resolve this when I am actually free to start this new adventure.
Which will probably be the beginning of the 2nd week of November. If it looks like she will need much more time at that point I will settle for a male trainer if another female isn't available by than. ..

For a co. owned truck, 'mysterious' dents are a concern...they automatically assume the driver did it and wont admit it. Eventually, even if not reported, when a driver turns their truck in they will be charged for it. However, in her defense, also, parking your rig at a truck stop and going in to eat, shower, etc. your rig is subject to being hit-&-run by other drivers. Esp. at night and by a newbie who is afraid for their career being over, and at 'best' not to mention losing time and not delivering their load on time.

But a 'dent' does not involve a weigh station but the co. and repair/insurance if no other property was damaged..which it sounds as that did not occur..

BTW, my trainer was a 62 YO old-school driver who smoked out of 3 packs (reg, menthol, & cigarillos) while I was an ex-smoker of many years. We drove a Freightliner FLD which had the old side-vents, and he kept his cracked...the smell was still there, but since I'm not a 'militant ex-smoker' I could withstand it for the 3 weeks we rode together. His experience of 35 yrs on the road and his anecdotes were worth the 2nd hand smoke!!

Yes but- because this dent she reported is "on her record" she was told she could resolve it by passing 2 inspections at CA weigh weigh stations. Than she would be clear to be approved to train a student.

Interesting?! Dont see the correlation but may be some confidence building for Knight or a punitive response....my previous experience with my training co. was that trainers had to 'be trained' in how to train properly (3 days?), and trainers had a week-by-week book with check-off boxes to fill in to certify a student was ready to go out on their own.

So if all ends well with your prospective trainer, you may be looking at another month of waiting (?)
