I am currently in the army and stationed in NC. I have T mobile, but the service where I live is spotty. What I would like to know is what carrier has everyone found to have the best service in the eastern states? If you have T mobile how do you like it? Thanks in advance.

I used to have T mobile and unless you're in a city, you'll probably be out of range a LOT. Verizon is who I have, and I wouldn't ever change. Def the most coverage overall throughout the while country.

That sucks, because I just switched from them and had to pay $900 for early termination. I think I will stick with T mobile for at least a few months and see how bad it is. I don't plan on using the phone while driving, but it would be nice to have for the hot spot and talk to family during my 10 and 34 if I dont make it home for reset.

I had Sprint for four years and I liked it, but the coverage was terrible, anything west of Souix Falls was no signal, until you get to Billings, then going west you wouldn't have service until Spokane. What I did like about Sprint was that it was a one or two page bill each month with the exact same charges. I went to AT&T and I have never had a complaint anywhere in the country on the interstate system, if you get on the back roads much in the west you don't have to work very hard to find an area that has no coverage, but all in all, I have no complaint about AT&T coverage. What I do have a complaint about concerning AT&T is the monthly invoice, multipage, incredibly confusing at best, with way to much information, especially when you bought a package deal.

A year and a half ago I went to the Straight Talk unlimited Talk, Text, and Web with a smart phone for $45 per month. With Straight Talk you must always find out what carrier the phone that you want is connected to, Straight Talk uses all three carriers, Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T. All cell phones in the USA for the most part are married to one carrier, there are a few exceptions. I use the AT&T carrier, and here again I have no complaints about coverage. You can also buy an unlocked I-Phone from the Apple website and use it on the Straight Talk system with AT&T as the carrier, (GSM), for $45 a month unlimited everything. I think my next phone will be an I Phone with Straight Talk. I am currently using the Nokia E-71 smart phone and have no complaints, my wife has the same phone and no complaints as well.

Thats good to know. I just bought a Galaxy S3 without a contract from t mobile since I was not willing to sign another contract to upgrade ( still have 1 year contract remaining) and it cost me $600. I know that I can unlock it and use it on att, but I think Verizon is a no go since it is gsm. Also I will be driving flatbed out of PA and from what I understand I will be mostly on the eastern states hauling steel and building materials from PA, VA, NC, OH, IN.....

I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 with T-Mobile and its alright. There some areas that have no service but most of the times I usually get service. But the carriers I would mostly recommend is Verizon and AT&T

If it has a GSM sim card, it will work on the Straight Talk plan, they will send you a new sim card, I think it is $14.95 for the card, then they will set the sim card to your phone and you are good to go. Google straight talk and just start reading, I researched it for a couple of months before I made the switch, I would never go back to a contract. You won't be able to use a smart phone on the $30 per month plan, it must be the $45 per month plan, but it is still far and away cheaper than the big three contract carriers.

Can you get 4G data with straight talk? I guess I will start investigating this.

I don't know, I'm technologiclly challenged, my guess would be no, but if you spend some time on google searching anything and everything you can imagine to ask about straight talk, I would guess that that question will be answered by someone who wondered also.
