Great info on here. A little tip if your in a city or town driving scenario after a snow storm. AVOID running the trailer up over snow piles on the corners when turning. The city usually doesnt care what it covers up it just wants to get snow off the road. Id hate to see someone hit a fire hydrant, paper box or something else buried under the snow and tear up a tire or rip out some air lines. Also you will put the one side up to a foot higher and risk tipping it if you have a top heavy load. I did this my first winter and it scared the bejesus outta me. Didnt tip but it made my butthole pucker up.
Newbies!!! It's almost winter!!! Here's some tips.

The whole thing started off from a military study that said you could lose 40 to 45 percent of body heat from your head. The part that people forgot to mention was they were wearing Arctic survival suits and their heads were the only thing exposed. The point was you could lose that much heat from one part, not that the particular part lost more than another.
That being said, you won't find me without something on my head during the winter.chipnbugs Thanks this. -

snow storm in KY shut down I-75.
you don't have to be out west for bad snow. the worst ones I've seen were east coast driving ,except Donner Pass.DoneYourWay and T...Street Thank this. -
any storm is bad if you don't respect it for what it is, hazardous weather. Doesn't matter if it's east or west.

Many great tips here but one is missing.
An extra chain, can be broken or what ever (but not one of the ones you use to chain up because it will most likely get destroyed). Just to throw under the wheel. Will often provide enough traction to get out of a slippery situation.
The best tip is of course to have great tires. We are trying out a new steer tire this year
http://www.truckandtrack.com/news_item.php?wnID=3988 (been around as drive tire long time but new for steers this year) Anyway after plowing through 6-7 inches of snow slush today I have to say the grip seems to be amazing.Last edited: Oct 16, 2012

When your windshield starts to ice put your visors down and the heat stays against the windshield. Works for cars too
