It also has to do with pay.. but working for free seems to be what "real drivers" want to do..
Why CSA 2010 and E-Logs are a good thing.

E-log or paper log....what changes when a driver stops to pee? Nothing...Line 1 off duty....unless the driver is using his pee to fill the DEF tank, then that would constitute Line 4.....after all, he is "fueling" per se! -
Example. I ran a dedicated run for awhile so my day started with a pre trip then I would run 3 1/2 hours and stop for lunch. I take my sweet time eating lunch and relaxing. After lunch I would use the restroom. I would be here for an hour to an hour and half. Then I would continue on my run and drive another 1 1/2 hours to my destination. I would have to sit in line forever(roughly 2 hours) and then I would be ready to turn and head to the house. Now I have another 5 hours to run to get back home. This adds up to 10 hours driving but now what if there is a little bit of traffic along the way that pushes my time back? Am I supposed to sit at some truckstop 30 minutes from my house because I am stuck running E-logs? I don't think so I am going to the house and sleeping in my bed which will make me get better rest for my 10 hour break therefore it will allow me to be a safer driver out there on the road. Oh don't forget every few days your going to have to stop and get fuel. So add up the lunch break, the fuel stop, and the sitting in line to get unloaded/loaded and sometimes it takes alot longer. Darn now your pushing your 11 hour drive time and your 14 hour rule plus you have to sleep in the truck and be uncomfortable when you could be at the house sleeping in your own bed and getting a very good 10 hours break and being a safer driver. E-logs have nothing to do with safety even if you say its about compliance.

What's missing in the CSA(?)....shipper/receiver complicity!
Cracking down on these long load/unload times, and by keeping with appointment times, or simply using some common sense and switching from appointments to FCFS, would be a very pro-active stance for Gov and docks to work, and allow to work in compliance with HOS rules for drivers.volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
Even on E-logs, those 2 hours (approx) would not be effecting your driving time, you would simply push the button to Line 1 after pushing the button (Line 4) arriving at receiver....it's not rocket science, it's common sense and thinking ahead...you know "PLANNING"!!!!!
