    actually yes

i want them free to make choices, not live like mindless robots that submit to whatever authority tells them, authorities have a history of being wrong, so do majorities

so each man has his own rules he must follow in life, thats what makes him a man and not a robot

i guess we have very different approaches to life, and driving

That is the problem. People have been getting hurt and killed by those that don't know when to quit.

i thought about your response reading this about OOIDA fighting against the state of Minnesota regarding them putting drivers out of service due to fatigue

    http://www.landlinemag.com/Story.aspx?StoryID=24297

OOIDA has been fighting for YOUR right to not submit to these outrageous laws, but i guess if these laws pass, you will gladly comply (getting rid of your TV, magazines, etc)

I don't drive a truck, so doesn't matter to me. If those are the regs I'll do my part to enforce them to protect my company.

I will listen to what you have to say the day you get back to me with stats showing drivers runnin paper logs cause/involved in more wrecks than the guy running E-logs. Guess I won't be hearing back from you.

This right here is one bad thing on this discussion. The office people don't care since they don't drive. The drivers are the ones getting screwed.

I feel your pain, and I'd probably ask the safety director if I could write a proposal stating our disagreement with it. However that became legislation I would do everything in my power to ensure we were running compliant. I don't have to agree with every regulation on the book, but if they're going to cause service failures and jeopardize the companies future then I'll do what I can to ensure compliance.
