If it is the beginning of the pay week, and lets say that you are sitting in Fontana or Mira Loma, alot of times it is wise to top off there due to the IFTA tax. Also if in the PHX area, there is a t/s near the terminal that is called the Liberty, and I have always found them to be almost .08/gal cheaper. Also agree, IL is a great place to top off, depending on the time of the week. Keep in mind, pay is from Wednesday - Wednesday. I will normally top of at the start of the week, depending on where I am at the time. If in WI and heading south, then enough to get me to IL, then top off and if staying on a southern route, will top again before I get out of IL.

Thanks guys. Looks like you all are still doing things the same way I used to. I never sweated the IFTA too much, other than prefering to pay it up front, and also didn't worry about filling before or after the pay cut off, assuming it would all work out in the end anyway.

Yes, you are true there. The only time that it hurts is when you are just starting the pay week and you know that your miles are not going to be that great. As long as enough to make the payment and cover the fuel, I am happy. I know that with the price today in Fontana, even though the end of the week, I will be topping off tomorrow, especially since I know that I will be getting a load and either t-calling in PHX or going on. $3.98/gal. PHX is $4.08, and if t-called in PHX, what I will earn on miles, it will pretty much offset the fuel.
