    dont think for a minute using a willy nilly setting on a CPAP machine is better than undiagnosed. A pressure setting too high can cause a different kind of apnea, not the obstructive type. This is dangerous because your brain almost forgets to breathe. Its called central apnea.
    Using the lowest pressure which keeps your passage way open is the best way. Self medicating isnt good.
    Now if you had an auto machine, and dialed in your optimum pressure, then thats different.

    You should research some of the apnea boards, there is tons and tons of info.
    As for truckerdad57, he knows what hes talking about.

    Good info. I wasn't aware of that. My machine is supposed to be automatic but, either way, I'm going to have to get another sleep study done and have the settings reset. That appears to be the only option at this point. I will have to get it dialed in correctly. I haven't checked those sleep apnea boards but I'll look into it today.

    I'm checking into both Schneider and Swift today. I'm sorry that Central Refrig. doesn't have a similar policy. Looks like they are out of the equation.

    Checked with Swift. From what I understand it sounds like if you are found later to have sleep apnea, while working for Swift, then they will take care of it then. However, if it's a pre-existing condition then I need to have updated treatment prior. I'm still a little confused but they are sending me an application so I will take care of that first.

    I checked into getting financial aid for the sleep study. Apparently I have to go back to a doctor, have him or her sign off that I need a sleep study before I can be considered for any kind of assistance in paying for it.

    When I spoke to the sleep center they stated that the study costs almost $7000. so if I don't get the aid I guess I won't be treated for it, I will only be diagnosed.

    And I guess due to my unemployment gaps Central is out even if I get the sleep study current.

    Not all trainers have inverters. Also if they have a square wave inverter (the cheap kind) it can fry your circut board on you CPAP. Let training know you use a CPAP and they will match you up with a trainer with a proper inverter.
    fyi the proper kind is a pure sin wave inverter.

    Cool sounds good. I will definitely use the better inverter as I don't want to screw anything up with the truck. Good info.

    I"m thinking I may still be in the game with Central. I'm not worried as much from the unemployment gaps as I was. I don't think they are as bad as I originally though. Just gotta get this CPAP issue out of the way.

    I drive for Central and have experience with their program for sleep apnea. You will need a doctor to sign off that your CPAP machine is helping your apnea and do a test don't remember what it's called. Basically they have you sit in a dark room for 30 min at a time for upto 4 hrs to see if you will fall asleep if you don't there is a form you get from Central for the doctor to fill out and give back to Central and you will also need that form to get your CDL. It's basically saying your machine is treating your apnea and you are safe to drive. You will only be able to get a 1yr DOT physical card and every year when you renew your physical card you will need a summary report from your doctor saying you've used your machine for at least 4 hrs a night 70% of the time within a 6month period per DOT requirements.
