Welcome to the world of trucking. Not the Wide World of Whining. This job is a profession. Anytime you get behind the wheel of a Semi you have the lives of people in your hands. That is something to be PROUD of. Backing into a dock is something that a lot of folks cannot do. Do you remember when you were young what jobs you looked up to? Driving a big rig always impresses a kid. Do you think a child goes by a Congressmen's office and wants him to honk his horn. No. Be proud of what you do and act like it.
What company will hire me? I have such and such wrong. You have a SKILL that companies are looking for. A marketable skill. You do not have to take the first job offered. You do not have to work for peanuts. Johnny Paycheck never sang a song "Thank you for giving me this job, I will work for nothing."
When you first try to back a trailer you find that you are hoping the trailer will go where you need it to. As you get doing this you find the trailer will go where you tell it to go. You are the boss. In trucking you are the boss of your own company. There is a minimum of $1,000,000 worth of insurance on your truck and trailer. You are the head of a $1,000, 000 company. If you are a "Company driver", you work for one customer. The company is your customer but you are still your own boss. You are self employed.
There is a thread on here asking if you are embarrassed to be a trucker. Are you embarrassed to be the head of a $1,000,000 company? Stop whining and act like the boss.
The boss gets paid. The boss gets time off. The boss eats when he needs to and sleeps when he needs to. Something breaks in the bosses office, it gets fixed. Sometimes the boss has to do the dirty work, sometimes the boss has to put in long hours to build the company up, but the boss is always the boss.
Newbies.......grow up.
