I'm hoping someone can give me some advice here. I recently bought a 2003 Great Dane with a Canadian adjustable sliding spread axle system. I'm trying to figure out the way to dump air from the axle when desired. Eventually, I want to put an electric dump switch on it, but first I want to make it work. The valve pictured is the valve I assume is for dumping the air. Ignore the pressure gauge, as I replaced that.
I assume that I should be able to lift up on the plunger to dump the air, bit I cannot get this to move. I even tried to pry up on the bottom of it, and that didn't work.
Before I spend the money to replace this valve, could someone tell me is this the right valve?
While I have many years experience, this is my first time owning a spread, let alone one with a manual dump.
Thanks for the help.

Most of those manual valves have to be twisted 1/2 turn to move them. They have a lock tab to prevent unintended change.

Nope. I just tried it and it doesn't turn. I even tried using channel locks to nudge it a bit, and the valve started to unscrew. It was a god idea though. I actually never thought of it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Post the back of the switch. I'd like to see how the valve is plumbed.

looks like it has to be pulled up, but i would imagine it is set up, so i would replace it!!

looks like a push pull knob

Can't get a pic of the back, cause it's in a box. The air comes in the left side and out to the bags on the right.
I also think it needs replaced, but they don't make this valve anymore. I think I'm just going to bypass the valve with an electric dump valve. -
You could take an old power divider/fifth wheel slider switch and put it in its place, that will work.

I had the same set up on my 2003 Dane. I left that valve and put an electric dump on rear axle. It's a nice set-up. You will be happy with that. My electric valve dumps just the rear and the manual one you have shown dumps both. It was pretty cheap to do yourself.

best bet if you want a setup to dump as you want. go ahead and switch it to electric. i would use a dual dump vavle setup. one on the front axle one on the rear. here is a list of parts. 2 pick up style trailer plug kits( one male one female per kit) 4 wires about 75 feet long each. 4 wires about 15 feet long black tape wire cover if you want to cover the wires. 2 toggle switchs and enough wire to run from mounting spot to back of cab. start by finding a spot on your trailer to drill a hole in for the female trailer connector. drill it out. mark the 4 long wires with 4 different colors IE one wire had red wire ties on both ends. otherwise you will play games wiring up later. run the 4 75 feet wire thru the trailer following the factory light wiring harness back the the axles. install the vavle on the front and back axles. wire up the vavles taking note what wire is what. ie hot wire to front axles is red ground is blue hot to rear is purple ground is yellow.mount the second female to your tractor next make a pig tail to go between the now you can let it hang on its own or zip tie it to your other pig tail giving it coil. now just mount you switches and wire them in and test. one toggle will work the front one the back.
