Cool35 thats nice you got the bonus and benefits from that... if I was offered that run I would probly do it. Just got confirmed from unemployment and getting the full 405 a week. Not too bad, if I went to work at fedex for the time being again I would be bringing home like 550 after taxes and doing 60+ hour weeks. Got an interview with UPS as a temp feeder driver next week so see what happens plus I dont know how long ill be out for, mainly so I can keep my unemployment coming in. Down 9 pounds so far, and able to lift more now, and feeling more stamina with my cardio days(although Im still dead afterwards).
Still nothing as of yet returning to work... At this point I dont even care if Im out longer, its helping me find better jobs -
ACH,
I hear you on the FedEx ground job. They work those package drivers to death for little money with no ot from what I hear. FedEx Express was the same same work wise but we had good benefits, vacation, sick days, pension and 401k, ot, double time, personal days, blah blah blah. Still was only making a little over 17 an hour. Wasn't worth the hard work for the money when I could just drive a truck for 47 cpm at the time. I would just stay on unemployment too if I were you. At least your getting in shape. I started walking last week. That's been the extent of my exercise. The only real way for me to handle my health and weight is a really low carb diet. Exercise is kinda out for me.
I have to say I'm not looking forward to being gone. I'm used to only being away from home for 1 day now with Reddaway. Running teams too. Oh well, I have to do what's needed. I will also be working for a contractor but he seems pretty good. Some of them are awful! My friend seems to like him and my friend will walk right off a job if he gets pissed off. He's been there a year and a half now. So it must be pretty good. -
NOOOO!!! Do not do a low-carb diet!!!!! Thats even worse for you... Just replace the carbs with vegies and whole grains

So, if I understand it correctly, if you're LTL then you generally start sometime around sunrise or before lunch and get off before midnight. But, if you're linehaul you could be nights or days. Also, most places pull all weekend long. That I don't get for LTL. Who wants Sunday delivery? Linehaul I could see, I guess.
Does LTL really work much weekends?
