I recently started to work for a local o/o in my area. It great, only 6 mins away from the house but the hours are brutal, 15-18hrs per day and yesterday was my first 12:45am to 08:35pm.

All his rigs are a rolling violation, I believe. :biggrin_2558:

The rig I drive has, massive oil leaks, air leaks, windshield res broken and no cap, steering box leaking, lots of wiring unplugged/taped, 6 of the instrument panel lights not working [not a big deal], fuel gauge doesn't work [have to use a stick to measure the amount of fuel and guess if I'll make the work day], hood is weak [not lined up], bumper is holding on with zip ties,, 4 clearance lights out, driver side light is out, 2 red lights don't work [I tried to see if I can fix it but it looks like spaghetti], 4 value caps missing [+ the steer tires don't have the proper caps], NO oil in the rig and been waiting for oil [also was told he was going to put some in for me last weekend, never happened], exhaust is disintegrating at various areas [massive gaps] freaking thing is loud and blows black smoke, a/c works but when turned down it is mild [need to use a toggle switch to turn it on], passenger window has a crack from one corner to almost the other, the driver windows is also cracked but not like the passengers, steering vibrates [depending on the speed depends on vibration] / makes noise when turn the wheel / also it locks up at times, almost went head on with a oncoming vehicle. Pretty much the equipment is hard core.

The rig I use to drive and now another driver uses; major oil leaks, MAJOR air leaks [looses air while holding on the brakes at the light], looses all the air when it is turned off, 3 bald tires [one is showing thread], passenger drive spring one of them [top one] is broken in half, a/c works at times and then doesn't, rear lights don't work like the one above, etc..

I have mention to the Owner and he stated that the steering box has a filter and he meant to get it fixed before letting me drive it. That was before I almost had a head on collision with a oncoming car. I spoke to his wife [the boss] about it and she stated that the filter in the steering box is on back order and will get that ASAP. I mentioned to the owner about the leaf spring on the rig I use to drive and he said he is working on it and is going to cost around 7k.

I'm getting 3.75 - 5 hrs of sleep per day and was wondering several things about local work.

1] Isn't the time off for rest we are getting a violation?
2] Is there a steering box filter that is causing the steering to lock up?
3] My butt is in a rolling death box waiting to happen? I know it is..
4] I will be seriously fine to my eye balls and possible have massive points on my lic?

    Thanks in advance. :biggrin_25510:

Sounds like time to find another company to driver for. This one isn't worth the risk to your license or your life.

    48Packard and Taino Thank this.

Where is the owner's incentive to change the way he does business. Drivers keep showing up to take his crappy job, driving his ill maintained trucks so WHY would he change? Look in the mirror, you may find the problem.

They show up and leave, either day one or like 8-10. One driver has been their for 4wks and the other for several months. Myself and another driver have just started.

You need to immediately stop working for this guy and not turn another wheel for him. Also, click on this link below and just follow your nose, this is where you should always report violations of this magnitude.

Monday, I will go back on the job hunt for a local gig or go back over the road. I really don't know what I was thinking from day one seeing these vehicles.
