Dang, this thread is fun to watch!
HappyHardCore.... That doesn't apply to the industry as a whole, because some of us are on the clock when doing non-driving work activities. But then again, I don't pull a van either....

Hey sniper481
Does Heartland take rookies? I have 3 years driving but all local.Wanna give OTR a chance and I guess Heartland pays better than else where -
That is from there website

You can always contact a recruiter and find out for sure. It never hurts to ask. -
Good mood driving musicCyanide Thanks this. -
With due consideration that the employees of Heartland Express routinely make 60+ million of profit per year for their employer, we the drivers of Heartland Express make the following demands:
1. Since there has not been a pay raise since at least 2005 ,an immediate pay increase to 60 cents per mile with equal pay for ALL drivers, regardless of terminal.
2. Inspection bays to be opened from 0600-2359.
3. Ice machines at all company terminals.
4. Loaner cars at all company terminals.
5. Attendants at all terminals to keep showers clean and have clean towels for drivers.
6. Fresh-pure brand water machines at all the terminals that remove the chlorine and fluoride from the water.
7. Fifteen percent pay increase for mechanics and non executive office staff.
8. Increase 401k company match to 6% and allow drivers to invest in their own stocks if they so choose.
9. Company paid health insurance at no cost to driver.
We will hire a business agent to negotiate the details. If all demands are met, Heartland Express will still be one of the most profitable companies in the industry.
And it should be noted that according to public records, the company president is worth at least 300 million dollars so providing better wages and benefits to his employees should not be a problem.mje, DealBreaker, Cyanide and 2 others Thank this. -
God bless every American and their families!. God bless the U.S.A.!

On a more serious note, item number 5 (clean showers and towels) was a major issue when I worked for them. I'm sure it'd be pennies for the company to do that. -
All those demands sounds good if you lived in a world where companies and people cared. By the way you forgot the most important demand...to get the drivers home on time every time like we do there freaking loads.
-
If any of you heartland drivers get a load that goes from pontoon beach il to Cleveland tn to a company called Peyton's southeastern 087...do not take the load....been in the door now for close to 4 hrs and they said they have at lease 2 more hrs to go......what bs this is.
