I'm confused. From what I can figure C-1 is a CDL Mill and Pam is a trucking company. Does a contract with Pam include them financing your C-1 training? And even if it does why wouldn't you get the diploma if you graduated? Also, what does the diploma mean anyway, you have your cdl which is what matters isn't it.

Just trying to figure out how things work there.

    Best of luck.

as far as I can tell, PAM pays the school to train drivers to work for them. And in exchange for them paying for school, the driver agrees to work for PAM for a year. If the driver doesn't complete the year, then PAM charges $6000 to the driver that they paid for school. though I doubt they actually paid $6000, but that's what they'll charge for it, plus interest.

Dinomite..he did say he put it on his application and was upfront with them, but no reason was stated for the retraction of job offer. There are some variables that we don't know...how old is the ticket, how far over the speed limit was it, and how many points were assigned to his MVR, but really if it is one ticket that then it shouldn't have made a big deal.

Muk, check with Drivers Solutions on Monday...because you didn't graduate and the offer was taken back...that you are not responsible for the tuition. I do believe the way it states in the contract is that if you graduate and go to work for Pam and you quit within the year's time required that you are responsible for the full tuition. If they say you are still responsible....then by all means contact the state attorney Generals office and file a complaint with the consumers division.

Muk, The good news is that you have a CDL, the bad news is that you have no job. It's really going to be Ok, I would start by researching companies that will hire a new CDL driver with no experience. There are quite a few out there but do your do diligence and research them carefully before you say yes to being hired on. (while I have never worked for Roehl I hear good things from their drivers and would check them out) As for the 6K that you may be billed well that will work itself out, IF they (PAM) send you a bill all you can do is make payments you can afford till you pay it off, in the meantime you should find a company you can drive for and start making money. The first company you go to work for will send you out with a trainer and you will get on the road to a career in trucking. When USA Truck screwed me at C1 in Fort Wayne I had just road tested, had my CDL and nobody ever came after me for the money for school! Did I just fall through the cracks or did they not bill me because they did not live up to their end of the bargain of employment after my CDL training? The answer I do not know, but it do know that when USA told me they withdrew their offer I got my butt in gear and found a new starter company and was in the road 9 days later!

Now start looking for a new job and good luck to you!

You have your CDL so go around and fill out apps and then explain your story. You are still on the hook to pay for the schooling. They usually set up easy payment arrangements. If you tell the school you are trying to get a job to pay for the school. I'm sure they will cooperate with employers who ask if you trained there. Steven's transport, FFE, Raider Express, and a few other might train you.

Drivers Solutions is like a recruiting company...and they have PAM and USA trucking that they recruit for. The school they use is C-1, and drivers solution is the one that takes the application over the phone or internet, and submits it to the company that the new recruit is interested in. The company will send over a offer for employment to send the new recruit to the driving school. The school lasts 3 weeks, and the student has obtained their CDL along with diploma, and then they go to the company that promised employment for orientation. The cost associated with going through the mill company is $6,000 dollars. The company pays $2000 to C-1, and the remaining $4000 is deducted through payroll deductions for 1 year. If the driver fails to spend one year with them then they owe the full amount-any collected= remaining balance. This is how they get money for sending someone through school, because what they don't mention is that their is kickbacks to all 3rd parties involved. This is why I cautiously advised my husband to stay away from them, and he did. He went with Sage Trucking IVY TECH school, and was paid for by the WIA which was a much better deal. I have to say that Roadmaster is another one to watch out for.

He went through their school, got a CDL and then was let go. I would get a lawyer and sue them for the fact they didn't fulfill their part of the contract, giving you a job. Take your CDL you have, and like a lot of people have told you, start hitting the pavement. You'll get a job, and I'm quite sure one better then Pam.
