Hello all and thank you for all your info and opinions (especially Wedge, NoCoCraig, MiFamilyGuy, vinsanity $ flood; your perspectives in particular helped me to make my decision to come on over to USX).
I just signed on to the Wal Mart dedicated account out of Gas City, Indiana and was hoping someone could provide me with a little insight about what to expect. The recruiter tells me the average is about $800/wk which is OK by me for a local gig when I only have 10 months experience (3 months OTR & 7 months local).
I feel pretty fortunate to land a local dedicated gig at this experience level. However, I'm a little worried that the money won't materialize. In which case, I'd like to know if it would be possible to switch accounts or go regional without having to retrain and drive team. I'm not a big people person and like my space.
Under no circumstances do I want to change employers again. This will be my third job in a year (that's more than the previous 10 years) and I don't want to be perceived as a job-hopper.
For the last 7 months I have been workin my tail off pulling flatbed making local steel deliveries for little more than peanuts. I just can't swallow $500/wk (before taxes) any longer. My point is, I'm not afraid of hard work and I'll gladly take a driver unload account, regional, OTR or whatever brings in some decent cash. I just want to know what to expect should the Wal Mart account not fit my needs.
Thanks in advance for any input. Be safe drivers!

Enjoy your hometime Wedge and congrats on the sit ups......
SO glad the lady didn't see your ''nakedidity!!!" -
Pleased to meet you, OtatKen.
I was loaned out to Walmart dedicated for a bit. It's fun, and pretty easy. I'm not sure what kind of income you'll generate in Gas City area, but the distances are greater in the mid-west than the east, so you might do pretty well out there (I work out of Shelby, NC when I'm on loan to Walmart).
It's doubtful that USX would send you out with a trainer if you stick with the Walmart gig for a while. You're coming in with some experience, so if you put in some time with the Walmart dedicated and then decide to transition to OTR, it should be somewhat seamless.
Walmart's pretty busy right now (Christmas) so you came in at a good time.
Good luck, OtatKen. Fill us in on your progress. -
Me too.
I might have needed some kind of therapy.sammycat Thanks this. -
I will try to keep everyone posted on at least a weekly basis.
I'm pretty excited about moving over to USX. I can't wait to make halfway decent money & drive a truck that I'm not sweating bullets every time I see
D.O.T.
Only one more week of working for peanuts & then I can hopefully graduate to cashews!

Hello There.
I may change the name of my truck from Snowball to Hurricane.
I'm making a run from Groveport, OH to Prince George, VA. My delivery appointment is set for 0800, but because of delays with the last load I should be arriving about mid-day.
Most of my hours will be gone by the time I'm unloaded, so finding a good spot to hide might be a challenge.
Just got word that USX is hunting for a re-power so this load can deliver on-time. If not..............
What's a little wind.
Thanks for reading.

Remember, it is not "that" the wind is blowing.....it is "what" the wind is blowing. Keep low
