If the driver wasn't at fault then he shouldn't be punished. So you are saying if a person driving a car goes over so many miles without sleep and gets involved in an accident even if not at fault they should be punished. I understand Truckers are regulated but read this post above mine and you will see thats not whats getting discussed. Now if there wasn't a 70hr rule and a trucker drove for 120 hours and was involved in an accident that killed someone IF he was at fault yes he should be punished for the charge they put on him but IF he wasn't at fault then NO he shouldn't be punished and he should be allowed to truck on down the road the next day.

And what about the travelling salesman in a car that covers 800+ miles in a day? or the work site inspector that drives from Minneapolis to Milwaukee to Davenport MN to Des Moines to Rochester MN to Minneapolis to Fargo ND Non-stop.
How about the foreman on the construction job. They drive a 1 ton pickup hauling material etc for the company, the work project. The ones that work a 16-18 hour day, 7 days a week.
Can't tell me they don't exist. I KNOW they do. I have family that do it on a weekly basis.
There are business professionals on the road that DON'T drive a semi truck and are more likely to cause an accident than a truck is.
Yet they are not regulated like we are.
Where are THEIR HOS? Where are THEIR Equipment standards? -
Autocar Thanks this.

Good attitude.
And that is why we are choked with regulations.
The other guys don't matter.
Thanks for your support.
