Swift and Safety>now there's an oxymoron!
Maybe Swift and bank property carnage would be more appropriate!

You mentioned "Get in trouble". That seems a little young. Swift, a company which I love to make fun of, wants you to drive 62 mph because that is where the best fuel economy works out to be for their trucks. If you are going down a hill and your rpm's are low because you are off the pedal, the fuel economy is high. They are going to be fine with that. Now if you let the truck get away from you that is a different matter. But safety is not the issue with speed, fuel economy is. Speed doesn't kill, it is that coming to an abrupt stop that kills.
Be careful with the cruise control as winter approaches. Cruising around ice sank the Titanic. -
I was told that you'll be in trouble once you hit 67MPH, peddle or not.
But then again, I've heard conflicting stuff alot during training. -
So glad I joined this forum. Many wise comments and advice and I appreciate it. Epes just called me a little while ago. From all accounts I've read/heard, they are better than Swift.

I hit 80 in a Werner truck, never heard a thing

I hit 90 on the sisters in my 62mph governed CRE truck, and never heard a word about it, but my students get a "speed violation notice" over the Qualcomm if they go over 70 on a downhill.
-
I currently drive for SWIFT and I can run 68 downhill, off the pedal without an overspeed notification.

I just left Swift a few months ago. Here's how it works. 62 is governor speed, 67 is overspeed (overspeed was upped last year). 71+ is a "flagrant" overspeed.
You can roll down hill at 68-69 and as long as you don't touch the fuel, no worries. The second you touch that fuel pedal beyond 67 mph, the qualcomm beeps and your speed is recorded. Don't touch the fuel, you're good. When you're on the fuel and overspeed, they look at it if you intended to speed or keep the jakes from coming on.
The only percentage Swift is concerned with is idle. But they're not too tough on that in the summer. At least they weren't with me.Icyhot1966 and Mrh2008 Thank this. -
