So, I'm on an overnight run.... and i just got empty. I'm nearly out of hours so I pull into a truck stop to park. I'm sitting there doing finishing my logs and a guy comes up to the truck and asks for money for gas. I say what?... He repeats he's in a bind and needs some money for gas... I say, "Well how much gas do you need"? He says i don't know 5 or 6 gallon... I say.. Your in luck, I'll be happy to help you out... My last load happened to be gasoline(I have a fuel tanker) I'm empty but I'm almost positive i can get 4 or 5 gallons out for you...
The scammers mouth drops... then he says... well I don't have a gas can... I quick reply, I have two 2.5 gallon jugs you can have... they have lids and seal tight... bud I say You can have them or throw them away... they are yours...
His next reply is, I can just make do without your help... I say what? I thought you needed gas? He says, nope I'll do without, thanks... and runs off...
People.. This was priceless
The old I need money for gas scam.

Good one.
I have had multiple times over the years had people come up to me in the truck stop wearing a JB hunt Hat, Stevens Transport asking for money for Truck repairs. Some will even have a car part in their hand. I ask them where is their truck, well of course it is down on the interstate. Then I tell them to call Breakdown and they ask me if I know the number. Like I know the number get lost #######.
Always something crazy at the truck stop. -
I gave a lady one of my shower credits in the truckstop on day. After the transaction was finished, I thoughtt why did she need a shower in the truckstop? Hmmm.... Lol-old and skinny lizard. After I pulled off, I felt

I've had several variations of this over the years. I had a guy pull up in a car with his girlfriend and want to sell me a tv opening the sales pitch with "I'm a trucker" and show me his cdl. Why would I buy a big screen tv in a truckstop and where would I put it?
Had a "lady" one cold, snowy evening outside of Kansas City hop up on my side and bang till I woke up. She told me her car broke down and wanted to get in my truck and warm up. I asked her why she didn't just go inside of the truckstop and she didn't have much of an answer. I sent her away, got in my sleeper and peaked through the curtains and watched as she made her way across the lot. Whenever someone begs money for gas I always offer to give them a gas can or container full of gas and have never had one want it. They always want the cash. I also have never given the cash out. -
Dad would do the same with the beggars on the street...if they claimed they were hungry, he'd offer to buy them lunch at the McDonalds (or whatever else was nearby) and they never would take him up on it.
I have no problem helping a guy out....but I'm not giving you money. -

Here's an interesting story right along those same lines. The interesting thing here is, it is not a bad neighborhood in this particular area? Meth Head trash.

Often I talk to them for a while when I have time and find out their situation.
Many times I ask them why they need to get somewhere else and waste alltheier money on gas. I can offer them some work or why not stay in this town and work.
Beggars that I met in California could make $20 per hour if they veteran apparel. -

Had a younger guy and his girlfriend ask for some help about a month ago, told me they were low on gas and the person meeting them to help them out with gas did not show up and they were stuck with no gas and a small child. Had him pull up to the pump and stuck in 25.00 worth of gas and handed her a 20.00 bill. Told her to go get some sandwiches and drinks for the rest of the trip.
Helping people out all the time is not me, but when it is obvious they are in need and I have it then passing along some kindness never hurts anyone.
