Wow, On the road today I saw plenty of truck hauling huge generators coming in to NJ. I don't know, I think we should all quit driving trucks and invest in companies maufacturing generators or generator related products and become super rich HA HA!!! Okay, did anyone hear any updates on the next storm coming in next week??? It was kind of gloomy out there today, anyway how was your day???

You got that right. On another note, I was at a meeting today where the group was thinking about sending a load of relief supplies out to the hardest hit areas, and during the meeting it was brought up that the folks on the receiving end were telling a story about the gas utility in NYC not yet making any repairs to the damaged gas pipelines. The reason that they can't start yet is because the power is still out for the city administration computers and they can't issue any permits to allow the gas utility to make the repairs. I think that is totally absurd, the gas utility can't repair their own infrastructure without a permit, (permission), from the city during this crisis, and many are without heat.

That is true, the free press is almost useless any more. I heard one of the radio talk show guys friday talking about the gangs of kids that are looting the stores and pharmacies, and in one case the store was open and doing business, but were unable to defend themselves from the gang. They are refering to these gangs as wolf packs. I have yet to here any of the "news" outlets talking about this, or for that matter any of the real issues that are going on, outside of the lines at the gas pumps, it is almost like they are intentionally not reporting the news.

So-called "wolf packs" are fairly common whenever there is a disaster of any sort. Personally, I am offended that they have equated wolves with these scavengers, so I will refer to them as jackals, instead.

It was jackals that committed the looting in South-Central LA during the riots, and in Watts during the riots there. It was jackals that committed the looting and attempted the takeover of New Orleans in the days after Hurricane Katrina. It was jackals that committed the looting and rioting after the second major blizzard shut down NYC and Long Island back in the late 70's or early 80's. And that is just through very recent American history. A study of world history shows jackals showing up after every catastrophic event.

Its true that the cream always rises to the top in a crisis situation. Unfortunately, the scum also rises and scum is faster than cream.

When hurricane Ike hit Houston in 2008, it hardly got any national attention. The northeast snobs said we were stupid to live on the Gulf coast. Some areas here were without power for a month.

Now they get a storm and it is the end of the world. We never got any fundraiser telethons from the Hollyweird crowd.

I think that a lot of people have noticed that. In addition to that my thought would have been that since a lot of the news outlets have headquarters in NYC that we would be seeing a lot more detailed coverage, so that the issues might have been brought out, discussed, then solutions put in place for future victims of these type disasters. Instead it seems like there is less coverage. I have yet to see any of the major news outlets do a report about the utility help sent in from Alabama, then sent back home, and yet last night on the evening news the NYC mayor said on camera that the electric utilities need to work faster at getting the electricity restored, IMHO that would have been a perfect invitation for the news commentator to have asked the mayor about this.
