truckstops don't have good wifi.
-
get your own wireless card, unlimited
-
who would be a good company to get a wireless card from? i hear sprint sucks and most dont do unlimited... its by the g now
-
Verizon. What I try to do is park near a hotel and use thiers, or if you are near an idle aire location, use the hard line plug in.
-
AT & T is not unlimited but you can get more GB now on a share plan with your phone and internet, and if you have other phones on the line. It will eat up GB playing using an air card.

I use a smartphone on Verizon. I also have a tether plan, allowing me to connect other wifi devices to my phone's data. I can tether my laptop, tablet, and believe it or not, wireless printer, to my phone.
Verizon has the largest network, so youll have connection in more places than other carriers. Whether your at the truck stop, home, or shipper/recievers, youll probably have data. Fast data for that matter. Im at a receiver getting unloaded right now, i have 4G connection, was watching Youtube videos, now im browsing a few forums, and if they dont get me unloaded soon i might bust out my laptop, log on, and pwn some noobs.
Having a smartphone on your truck also allows you to use Google Maps, so you can see places your going, from both satellite image and street view, before you even get there. You also get to use trucker apps. Theres a seperate thread on this forum about the apps. I honestly would never do truck driving again without a smartphone. -
ummm, verizon doesn't have the largest network. they just cover areas some might not.
and how do you conect your wireless printer.
i had no problems with sprint. and i'm seriously considering going back. i don't see verizon being all that great to justify the extra $60 per month for limited services. and my phone is the biggest pos i've ever had the pleasure to own. -
I use an&t now just thought playing games online would eat my data up really fast.
-
Coverage is very important though, since you wont always park in highly populated areas. I have had data, even 4G, in areas i didnt think would have any data because the town was so small.
My printer has a WiFi and a ePrint function. I connect the printer and my laptop to my phone through wifi. I usually just plug it into my laptop via USB, but i have used it wirelessly a few times. I even use an online fax service so i can send or receive faxes directly to my truck. It requires an internet connection to use though. Its also not automatic like a normal fax machine, its sent through email, then i download and print the filees.
