What is the serial number off the back? The 710 came out about March of 2011. Do you have a receipt or CC statement for the purchase of the 710 to narrow the date down? For this long ago I would have to have some concrete information to go back to marketing and see if LTM's were offered during the time of your purchase?

    Thanks,
    mark

It is actually the 700. Don't know why i was thinking it was the 710. The serial number is B06T7E997260. I don't have the cc receipt as it was a gift for Christmas of 2010. If needed I am sure the person who bought it for me still has it.

Just wanted to poke my fat lil' head in here and update a bit.

Bought a refurbished 500 back around March (I think....I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning...you get the idea...). Really wanted to see how it worked before dropping a few hundred more on a new one. I paid $149 for this one, but it didn't come with any capability to retrieve map updates.

I've enjoyed this unit very much. Very user-friendly. Only seems to "freeze up" when I'm in what is, according to it anyway, is a cow pasture or other such uninhabited or undeveloped area (a large warehouse facility will also cause it to throw it's virtual hands up and say 'WTF??').

So, on my Christmas wish list this year is the 720. I'm optimistic that this should last for the remainder of my OTR career, which I am hoping is no more than another three years.

Mark...many thanks again for the help, advice, and information.

Did they purchase LTM's also with it? The T7E did not come with LTM's at that time. You would have had to buy an SD Card.

    Thanks,

I know that feeling.. I have my wife E-mail me when I need to remember something.

Only if it is an STAA cow pasture will we route you in it....:biggrin_25526:

Sounds like you are finding area's not yet updated or have been updated and you might be one mapset behind.

    Thanks,
    mark

Yeah, I think that's it. But since there are no map updates available, I'll just buy a new one. The original reason for purchasing a refurbed model was to give it a "test-drive", and I've done that. But now I'm finding more roads a little more often that I haven't ever run (or last ran long ago) that have changed, and newer info is becoming more important. But I just got the OK from wifey for the purchase, so it looks like the 720 will be adorning my dashboard in a few weeks...

Dang, could have sworn it said something about lifetime maps. So how do I go about getting an update to the map? Looked around the RM website and didn't see any SD cards with maps for sale.

If you have something in writing then that would help. Going back two years without a receipt or some sort of documentation is hard to try to prove you get LTM's.

Only the 510/710/720 have the LTM's at this time.

    Thanks,
    mark

    Hi Mark,

I went to GPS Data like you said and here is what it says:

    Device Status: No Signal
    GPS State: No
    Speed: 0 mph
    Altitude: 0 ft
    Heading: 0 Geg
    DOP: 60.00
    Satelilites Used/Seen: 0/13

Nothing extra in the cab except AM/FM radio,no satellite radio or cb. Had it outside for 30 minutes sitting on the fence, 50 from anything.

I did try it at numerous loactions, keep getting no signal.

Purchased the unit last year in December.

    Rahn

P.S. It does very between 12 and 14 satellites the it sees. So it is seeing them.

If you can connect it to the computer and close the dock. Look for an external drive that has a Navi Folder on it. In this folder is a Bin folder. E-Mail me the settings.ini file please.

    Thanks,
    Mark
