Hey road runner 9630, not sure why you say that! I have never thought truckers make 100k out of the Shute. I know it can be done, but that is with lots of years of experience and being a good business person. Please do me a favor and not lump me in with people you THINK believe that! I'm an educated, rational, realistic person who does my homework. So take your judgements and keep them to yourself please.

Oh, I suppose I accept it. I had this test long rant about how I ment it at humor, but that's ok. I still got a chuckle as I read.

 

it don't matter how many years you truck.

you'll never make 100k. only way a o/o can make that is if he has a fuel efficient truck that doesn't break down.

let's take a look at this challenge. since your still a rookie.

as a company driver. you can probably hit 50. running over your hos.

as a o/o. it won't be hard for him to make 100k. but after fuel and all other expenses. we're down to about 30k. the only way he's actually going to put 100G PROFIT in his bank is to have his loads lined up and ready to go. with someone doing the dispatch for him. and running beyond the hos.

i made 75 in 6 months. but the bank only saw 25. and the only reason i made that. was we had a dang good fuel haul. that was very short lived. had that fuel haul continued. i woulda hit that 100 mark. with about 40 actually hitting the bank. probably more.

 

You're not taking into account the ability to tap into other lines of revenue. and it is possible to make 30k over expenses from trucking alone. What you do with it is up to you. I'm not saying it will be easy but I think within 5 years it is possible.

 

Since we are talking about pay I thought I would share. This includes 3.5 months as a solo o/o and 6 students. Lease started mid January. Hope it helps.
