Couldnt really find the info I was looking for, then again maybe I am not navigating around the site well enough. My questions regarding covenant transport are:

1: Is the hotel a decent place to stay?
2: In DETAIL can you please tell me what the road test consists of.
3: What is the site that new hires can go to seek potential team partners?

    In order:

    1. NO. Hotel is owned by Covenant. Not actually a hotel at all, more of a bunkhouse. Also used to house drivers hurt on the job, and drivers limited to "light duty".

    2. As with most companies, route generally depends upon the tester. Mine was a nice mix of interstate and secondary road. No backing required on my road test.

    3. I can't remember the website for matching up potential team drivers, but they will supply that information to you at orientation. Best of all possible worlds is to find a decent teammate at orientation so you can get right to work, but I understand that isn't always possible (or a good idea).

The only positive thing I will say about Chez Covenant is that the ####roaches are friendly. Which puts them head and shoulders above most of the drivers...Of course, if I was stuck driving for Covenant, I wouldn't be all that friendly either.

There are much, much better starter outfits to run for. Why go to these idiots? Are you so insecure that you need to team drive?

Really NO BACKING? Is that normal or just in your case?

No pretrip required when I did my road test. Went out with a tester and three other drivers in the truck, everybody drove for about 30 minutes. Didn't see any other testing trucks backing, either. Covenant is the bottom of the pile of bottom feeders. My recommendation is to find a company with higher standards.

If your that worried about your skills, have you considered going back into a training environment or finding a field you may have more aptitude in?

Pre-trips are required at the start of every duty shift, but I have yet (in more than 14 years since I got my CDL) to do more than the most cursory pre-trip inspection for a test drive. Most places that would consider a driver of your stated experience are just happy if you don't run over a van full of nuns in the course of your test drive. To them, you're just another low paid rookie to burn out as quickly as they can so you can be replaced with the next starry-eyed rookie.

I wish I could offer a better view of trucking, as I truly loved what I did before it got all screwed up. But the reality today is that if I were to consider going back on the road it would only be after I had another career I could jump into when the latest carrier screwed me over.

Is why I'm going into IT. Lots of the same abuses, but better pay at least.

Wait till they use the born again christ stuff on you like they care about you. When you get to go to the white house ask why you can't get to the upper floors? They had to lock them down from the drivers that threatened the staff. The staff are arogant jerkoffs and could care less about you or your problems. Forget about going home when you need to!

Covenant is owned by a Born-Again Christian, and professes to Christian values. From my experience, this means screw the employees as much as possible and laugh all the way to the bank. Is why I recommend almost any outfit over Covenant. Heck, you'd be better off doing your first year at Werner!
