My fiance' was looking into becoming a truck driver. He went to orientation for a school and had to get a copy of his driving record from the dmv. Apparently, he has 4 DUI/DWIs on there but they are all over or at least 25 years old. He was stupid back then I guess....lol. Anyway, according to the state he lives in, they do not fall off after a certain period of time. Finally, my question. Can he get hired by any trucking companies?

It all depends what company some do not allow a driver to have a DUI in the past 5 years and only 1 in life. I think a smaller company will take in to consideration they are in the past in the young and dumb era

I would say that a driving record with DUIs from more than two decades previous and no major infractions since would be indicative of someone who has cleaned up their act, he should be able to find a place to drive.

I'm sure it was just from being younger and dumber. I read the driving record myself and there isn't anything on it since 1988. I appreciate your input.

I know C R England says none in the last 5 years on their site. But if you call, they say no more than 2 in a lifetime. Thank you for your post.

I have 2 from the previous millennium and it has helped me more than hindered me. Co-workers are miffed that I "can't" go to Canada (lol), but they have to. When i started looking at companies, I pre-qualified them as potential employers by calling and asking about the DUI's -- rather than them pre-qualifying me as an employee (and potentially turning me down and having me in their records forever). I certainly didn't lose any sleep over the companies that eliminated themselves as potential employers, and its helped put me in a pretty good niche and a nice path for the future. There certainly are companies out there who care more about recent history, and less about what you did in the previous century.
