Ive heard of some o/o with pumps to drain tanks.... that's nuts.

As a rule, nah... that would be misleading...
Sometimes,... yeah, that'll work, people get screwed by the Trucker Mills (places like Werner, C.R.England, Swift to name but a few) and when they leave they get screwed again both financially and with false or misleading reports. I drove for a good number of years but still was a victim of the Mill (C.R.E.). They said my 2 months of inactivity (I'd only been driving for 18 years prior to that), required that I pay them $500 for a 'refresher' (with driver trainers that belong in a parking lot). I needed a job so sucked it up while getting the highest road and skills scores,... hell, why not?... I paid for them.
Revenge was contemplated when they cancelled my lease and tried to let me go because a disgruntled student tried to set me up... it failed as I got her fired then quit myself. Lo and behold, they claimed my maintenance savings for 'repairs' to a bunk door that was 'broken'. No dispute, I've just paid my own way home from Salt Lake City and can't prove otherwise (they refused to inspect it prior to forcing me off the property without my wheels).
My revenge is simple... they get my story told every chance I hear someone talking about going there. I'm probably saving a driver from getting screwed while at the same time getting the word out on the Mill C.R. England has running.
There are whiners out there, my friend. You'll swear somethings wrong with your CB the way it just whines and whines all the time but that's another chapter.
Pretrip... gentle tug before pulling out... check your kingpin latch... never fill up before going to bed... fill it before you leave. Little things will keep you safe from all the crybaby truckers who have to make another trucker's life miserable in the false belief that it affects the company that screwed them.
We all know it's not true but the rectal orifices (can I say '### holes'?) are driving the same highway as you and they think YOU represent the company in some way.
You can't fix stupid without killing it and, we aren't allowed to carry a gun (yet). I can kill a fool any number of ways if I catch them... a gun just makes it faster but it's not the answer... wire ties to a pole in the lot with a sign are. All the truckers will want to meet the fool.

I was OTR with Stevens for almost a year and now drive local/regional. Knock on wood, I have never had anything happen... yet.

NavigatorWife Thanks this.

I got siphoned in Houston off my starboard tank.
Usually don't get OTR much, I'm often a north east guy.
Cool trip otherwise, we had 4 trucks going to the same place. Had our own little company convoy going.
But we all got dispatched separate ways after delivery. -
Wow sadly I never even thought of other drivers unlocking fifth wheels. If something happens to where the trailer injures someone and they are caught their butt would be in jail. Definitely something to keep in mind when parked anywhere

I try to remember to walk my rig every time I get back in it. If I stop to go to the head or sleep or whatever. Having my jaws unlocked is what I always think about. 48,000 pounds of Molasses in the Loves fuel island would really suck.
str8rida Thanks this.
