thats what i am afraid of
its not bad when you are at home and you can play around and reboot and reinstall
but on the road, having deadlines and needing information, the last thing i want to do is spend lots of time with this endeavor
fun it was, but now, time is a premium
i will look into gpsdrive, i just need something that maps out my routes (just like streets and trips) i dont need the gps function
thanks for the info
Anyone running Linux on their laptop on the road?

Looks like Fedora has it in their repo, that shouldn't be too bad. Now I'm interested. -

I run a Macbook Air, it has a Windows Partition I never use. My old laptop had Windows 7 and Mint dual boot. I don't miss the size of the laptop though. -
The only reason I started using windows again was GPS updates. Between Web pages with activex and a widows program needing to access hardware through WINE cost too much time.
Linux changes so fast things will get better, or get worse first. -
when i was home messing with linux, it was time consuming and fun (like working on a 65 mustang), but i wouldnt want to take a 65 mustang cross countryDieselboss Thanks this.
