OK, cut that phrase and replace with 85 IQ hayseeds fresh out of juvy. Same difference. Take dimwits and ride them like slaves until they crash the truck or lose their license. It's a shameful way of conducting business.
I don't have anything against the dim, I wish everyone well, I have an awful lot against organizations set up to exploit them...and I definitely don't think slow kids should be operating a tractor trailer OTR.
FWIW, and I'm sure it doesn't matter at this point given the way that came off, but as a general rule I really like black people...in general terms probably more than white people, but I sure don't like the aggressive, fetal alcohol syndrome, undereducated inner city types I have seen around the OC's. Apples and oranges. -

My "best bet", as is most peoples', is to speak my mind, ally myself with like-minded people, and let the rest of the chips fall where they may.
RockyRiverOwl and The Snowman Thank this. -
All the unfortunate talk aside....the line 5 usage is even more limited then it is for company drivers here at Crete. We can be under a dispatch, lock and secure the trailer, and bobtail somewhere and back. Of course, they discourage that, but it's nice if you get stuck somewhere. I've used it twice during such times when loads were not ready or otherwise screwed up.

Don't let them get you depressed, Green Giant, I understand you are just frustrated with some bad weeks. If you are having weeks that are that bad, then it is on your DBL and Planners, just talk to your DBL and tell them your concerns. They may listen or they may not, if they do not listen and something does not change, just talk to your Branch Manager. I actually run east coast all of the time, which I am regional, so that is to be expected for me. However, I get enough miles most every week to make more than I did as a Police Officer. I even made more than that when I was only making .28 cpm as a complete newbie. Do I have bad weeks, sure I do, in fact, I just had two bad weeks in a row due to my truck breaking down and then them giving me a rental car from Memphis, TN to my home in Georgia so I could sit for two days at home because they would not be able to find me a truck until Monday in Atlanta. So I had one week where I only had 800 miles the week my truck broke down and then only 1300 miles the next week. But they have made up for it since I came back out last Tuesday and I have been running hard enough to actually run out of hours and I am doing a 34 in Carlisle while my newer truck is getting a PM done. If you talk to your DBL and give it at least a couple of weeks to correct itself while you are looking for something else. Just don't let your frustration for the situation make you so bitter that you generalize the company as only hiring "dimwits" as you called them, because if you do and you let any of that anger get through to your DBL when you talk to them, then they will be less willing to help you. Just remember that you catch more flies with honey rather than vinegar. You will have slow weeks at any company regardless of what anyone tells you. Hope that helps you.

Just thought I'd give my DBL a nice kick in the pants. This lady tried to send me to deliver in Queens and pick up in Brooklyn. Not happening. Even though we argued about it (her explanation: We have drivers that go into New York City all the time. I don't understand why you won't.).
Because it's against New York State law? I don't think you need any more explanation than that. -
