And when you get caught by corporate, which you will, you will be terminated on the spot for violating the no sitting duck policy and terminal parking policy. Do yourself a favor and park at the terminal. You do realize they can actually get a picture of your Truck any time they want from the QC satellite - time and date stamped with gps coordinates.

well to address where i park my truck.... i communicated with my terminal manager that i do not own a car or have reliable transportation to and from the terminal and i was told that it is fine that i take my truck as long as i am not taking more than 4 days off... where i park my truck is fine as other drivers park there as well and i have been parking in the same spot for the last year when i drove for another company. although i know that my truck is fine where i park, i go and just check on it twice a day. i would suggest to the driver who was concerned to just speak with your terminal manager and explain what reasons you may have for taking your truck home and i'm sure just like my manager he or she can make an exception for you.

i am really interested in knowing what your deal is with the company for you to just be so negative. furthermore i started this thread to SPEAK ON MY experience with Knight, NOT YOURS... maybe you should start your own thread, and if you have reference that thread. you are Ignorant for expecting someone to just value your opinion when you have no supporting facts.

Knight so far is working out for me and there is nothing gullible about my posts... i am sharing MY experience and so far this is working out for me.....

i made it home friday night, plan on leaving back out monday at noon and btw i made roughly 700 $ for the week

Your missing the point, your terminal manager can blow all the smoke he wants up your fecal expelling orifice, if corporate catches you parking on the street and not at the terminal during your off time when you live that close to the terminal they will fire you first and not answer questions later. Most division managers are only worried about getting butts in seats in the here and now. They don't worry about how long they are around because they know most will be gone in six months to a year.

BTW, next time your at Katy, tell Cory to kiss my #####. He nearly screwed me today. If my terminal manager hadn't been working weekend dispatch today I probably would be sitting in El Paso till monday with nothing to do. I already had a preplan and he calls and asked if I would mind switching to a load being dropped in El Paso by a Texas only driver going to SoCal. It meant more miles for me so I said sure. Problem was that driver wasn't a Texas only driver and had no intention dropping the load. I think Cory had a truck stuck in NM and stole my preplan for him. No matter I got a load out of El Paso going to SoCal.

The ole 'Houston sucks' thing was around for all my time in TX. Houston, being not only hot but also humid (being near the coast) & miserable in the summer months, used to have the highest violent crime rate in the nation with a large ghetto population (even beat out L.A. until Miami took the title over). But some of the newer suburbs like Sugarland are pretty nice.

And, as a 23 yo wonder, a man of the world that you are, I'm sure that you know everything, but...experience is a hard teacher, wisdom comes with age, and altho you are now living in la la land with a new job, be forewarned that Knight doesnt tell new hires the negatives in orientation, and often drivers learn after the fact by getting fired or at least have their yearly performance downgraded and will be used as an excuse for 'no raise.'

I had a 'stellar' record while at Knight during my 5 yrs, saw it change from a driver's co. to a "bean counter's bottom-line drivers are at the bottom of their priorities" co. I was harassed once for 'legally parking my rig in an industrial area' out in the street waiting for L.A. morning rush hr traffic to die down as violating their own 'sitting duck policy,' and then further harassed on my cell phone while in traffic driving out of there. I also didnt get my last year raise (again, no incidents/accidents & all on-time freight deliveries) because I didnt attend the reqd # of Safety Meetings, which usually reqd me after coming off the road to hang around the terminal and delay my going home from Phx to Tucson. I had a entire career of no incidents or accidents and I really needed to know how to drive safely!!

And you're right, their version of the industry 'sitting duck policy' which was intended to keep drivers from parking along busy interstates, etc., is not known by most of their new drivers! Reason why? Because 'experienced drivers would see the ridiculousness of it if detailed out and quit their 1st week!!

    EDIT:
Oh, btw, it you are 'special' and get permission (better be written) to park out in the public street, and your tractor gets vandalized or if children get hurt playing 'around' it, YOU will still be held as responsible for not parking in a secure area!!! (had a friend who was a happy 12 yr Crete driver, park his tractor in his GF's driveway, just off the public sidewalk; when neighbors' kids were playing with his GF's kids and got 5th wheel grease on their clothes, the neighbor called the HOA and made him quit parking there!).

You 4got to add the word 'dude' to your post.

I'm sure this driver will give you his name and truck no. in saying that Knight OK's violating their policies for some drivers. As they say, 'Words are cheap.' Knight may not 'catch' a driver violating them or even look the other way (but w/o authorizing the violation 'in writing'), but your ### will be grass if you screw up in the process (see vandalism, children injured, getting hit & run while parked, etc.) How's that for a reality check, dude?!
