it wont go into the doc mode when i plug it in to my pc either......

Leave it unplugged from any power source for 12 hours, charge it on AC for 3 hours. Then try to turn it on. Sometimes you have to press the reset button while also trying to press the on/off button.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Mine is doing the same thing. I pressed the reset button for 10 seconds, then held the power button for two seconds. It powered on. After about ten minutes, it froze and I hit the reset button one more time. Ever since then, the device wouldn't power on. I have left it uncharged for 12 hours, then charged it until the green LED came on, but still nothing.

What can I do without sending my TND 710 in for replacement? My GPS won't power on. I bought a new power cord and it has a green LED on. I held the reset button 20 seconds, then held the power button two seconds. After that, it powered on. After about ten minutes, it froze and I hit the reset button. The next time I tried to power it on, the GPS did not turn on. What can I do to make my GPS turn on? I also did the battery drain for 12 hours, then charged it to full; still nothing.

Seriously. That thread is 500 pages long. There is no easy or convenient way to find a solution to a problem within that thread, as the forum search function links results to the beginning of the thread, not the actual post within the thread that contains the keywords you've searched for. Not many of us have the time to page through the entire thread to find the information we're needing.

There needs to be a completely separate forum for 510/710/720 support, IMO. The original support thread has become way too large to be useful to anyone.

Are you still within 1 year from the date of purchase?

    Thanks,
    Mark

So, each time someone has an issue they should open up a new thread? Many things I would post would be duplicates of other postings.

    One support thread.

    Thanks,

new threads are better then having to look thru 502 pages, or someone with the know how should type a write up on common problems and ways to fix them and pin it. I tried searching before i posted but it would bring all 500 pages up as results, catching every key word "rand" "mcnally" "710" "power" just a mess.

but thanks for your help trying that now as it sits unplugged.

Part of the issue being some drivers just open a new thread without looking at page 1 and seeing what threads are open or actually there. The support thread has been on page 1 since the day it was started and it usually is on the first half of page one. I bump it up if it gets too low on page 1.

Trying to keep up with each new thread is a little time consuming since that thread then starts a life of its own.

I find myself posting the same thing in different posts. I am not a mod, nor an admin for this website. I am here to support drivers in an unofficial role. I can help with some things such as a field solution for a power cord issue or helping a driver get an issue corrected with Rand Support.

Instead of reading all 500 pages, simply go to the end and read back 3-5 pages.

I am sure the Mods and Admin of this website agree to try to keep threads down to a minimum on like items. I do work a full time job and when I get a moment I jump on this website to answer any questions that might have been posted. I do check after hours and on weekends also.

I see 5 threads on Rand products plus 2 more on GPS's in general.

Your suggestion falls at a odd time since I was talking to my wife and thinking along the same lines. Create a PDF for each model and attach them to my signature. But, will drivers take the time to read them or notice that they are there or simply open another thread?

I am supporting this "Support Thread" and any that pop up I ask admin to move them to this thread. If you wish a personal answer my E-Mail is in my signature.

    Thanks,
    Mark
