Thanks for all the info. Just curious so I can know what to expect now...

So is it true that all swift drivers are getting home for Xmas? Or is it just trainers and trainees?
-
Christmas is the only holiday that Swift recognizes. They will try to get you home or at least close. Some drivers will stay out and take the holiday later. Make sure your DM knows what you want.
EDIT: there is no extra pay for staying out unless you were promised on the Q/C. Always have such promises sent over Q/C. -
inkeper Thanks this.

Out of curiousity, is that pretty typical at Swift to offer more money on Christmas or was it a one time type of thing?

If a planner has screwed up and has a load hanging, they can offer you extra bucks to do the load. They will make the offer over the phone and then deny that they offered it. That's why you always have them put it on the Q/C before you take the load. I used to see it offered for local loads more that OTR.
You got to remember that local loads (under 100 mi) pay differently to begin with, you get your CPM plus you get $25 to $50 that has to do with the time you were tied up on the load, kind of like hourly. With 3 of my 4 DM I always had to ask for the local pay simply because I knew they were covered up and didn't or couldn't keep track of the local runs. Never had a problem with reminding them, they encouraged it. To remind them just send them an open message with the trip number and the question, "Check for local pay please".
The 4th one usually paid me right after my E call, she was the best!DocWatson and scottied67 Thank this. -
Yes you can take it where ever you set the zip code in the home all hell u might even get stuck in the east is about the only place I run I do circles here this is where I make the most $$$ only had 2300 miles for the week still made $850 not bad considering the nightmare I had over the weekend
DocWatson Thanks this. -
I wouldn't mind getting stuck back east. I'm more familiar with the roads out there as it is.

I have taken my hometime in the last year in 7 different zip codes in the USA. Ranging from my "real" home of Shepherdsville, KY to Davie, FL, Moab, UT and Two Rivers, WI. All they request is a zip code.
