2 years of keeping it between the fencepost that says that you got a high %a of your dumb rookie mistakes behind you. Of course you won't run much on asphalt and not always even on gravel and that will be a learning experience about 50 times worse than going solo in Chicago on long weekend as your first trip.and then you get to learn it all over again when its covered in ice and snow.did I mention there is no snow plow besides your front bumper
you will pick it up if you just take it easy and once you do highway hauling will be way too boring and far too underpaid to go back to.

Dickinson, which looks to be closer to your future housing is loaded down with all sorts of trainee positions that offer a direct line to a senior exp driver status. There is one company that comes to mind, Badger Daylighting. This place hires swampers but places a priority for selecting ones with Class A CDL's to assist lead drivers at the rigs.It looks to be a nasty job as swamper, but the potential is huge, lead drivers earn over 3k a week from what heard. Another is working with a roustabout services company, and so on.....While you are gaining some exp, Nabors or another mainline drilling company will probably give a holler, even though that can take a bit. Texas? All in all, I prefer cold to whats waiting for someone down there, and recent comments from people that have transferred is that housing is not an easy go. Between the recluses and the rattlers, forget it...Yeah, I'd definitely choose this circuitous route of working as helper or there abouts versus letting these so called "National Carriers" suck me dry 1st. And who knows, that may ruin anyones trucking aspirations, all in just months. Remember to look at all the alternatives out here, there's serious money to be made in many different vocations that'l carry on long after the "Black Gold" rush is done. -
i havent heard of any other alternatives.

Time to get over here is now through next spring, then road restrictions come back on, and the usual slow downs may occur. After spring, you'll have to deal with the hordes of wannabe's sleeping in their vehicles competing for same jobs.As to alternatives, thats totally up to the individual. It's all there to find.

isnt it winter right now and is slow and the road is bad? im planning to come feb.

Winter is when its busiest. It is much easier and cheaper to get into swampy areas when the ground is frozen.
WideSkyND Thanks this. -
you think companies hire asian driver?
-
Racial and gender hiring guidelines in ND are as strict or more so than any other place, based on an individual company requirements it would be qualifications and exp level that decide ....rural road conditions do deteriorate this time of year....has no affect on work demand...actually creates more hours, and in effect your paycheck

great answer....but it still doesnt answer my question. maybe lawsuits will scare them.
