I second that. We had at least three people during training who left cre to join crst. cre pushes you in to leases which are about the stupidest thing you can under take when you're a noob. I liken it to investing all of your savings in to a sports store when you can't tell the difference between a base ball and a golf ball...

Thanks for the advice everyone. I haven't heard much good about the company, but then there seems to be horror stories about all the companies that sponsor training. I pretty much expect the next 10-12 months to be crappy but hopefully after that I will be able to get a better job if I need to.

Does anyone know about the school I will be attending? Like how big the classes are and what the instructors are like etc? Does the hotel have fridges in their rooms? Is there shopping nearby?

ADVANCE SCHOOL OF DRIVING, FONTANA CA. There are about 35-40 people a class day one. 20-25 by week two. Five trainers, with about four students to a truck. Winter months are slower, so you'll probably get more wheel time. I attended in late May, peak season. Many of the trainers are sub par but there is one (who I won't name) that is clearly superior. If you are struggling (or like me and didn't get enough wheel time due to over crowding), they will pair you with him one on one that saturday before testing. CRST students are third party tested, which means you have a little more wiggle room with mistakes. Make no mistake yourself, though, they will send you home if you can't prove you somewhat understand what you're doing. They provide you lunch on fridays. Mon-thursday you provide for yourself. There is a Farmer Boys Burgers across the overpass and a jack in the crack a little further down. As per the southern california lyfestylez, you'll have no shortage of liquor and convenience stores for crap food galore. The school is pet friendly. I brought my dog gizmo, a large sized shin tzu and everyone loved him. The weather is beautiful in so cal during winter, so pack a light jacket and t shirts. When I attended it was 100 degrees, not fun. I didn't stay at the motel and instead got my own spot for me and my girl so I can't speak to it but from what little I've seen and heard its a dump. You will have a roommate.

Crst in morton, il just got busted by state police for falsifying that students were driving 3 hrs a day and they were only driving maybe 15 mins. Would not recommend crst.

Not all companies you sign with have a contract. I work for one right now.

Im not surprised. For those who don't know, IL has some of the strictest regulations when it comes to their DOT and truck drivers. They don't #### around out there, and if you're gaming the system they will find out...

Just to clarify some erroneous points. The current system is 50 for drug screen, 50 for physical, whatever your bus ticket was, and the cost of hotel at 150/week. They will start deducting this at 40 a week shortly after you get off your trainers truck.

they start deductions 6 weeks after hire date. Im with them now, had to pay for refresher, but oh well. have a couple gripes, maintinence is a joke just go to a ta or petro then call them. i hvent any shortage of miles though, last month sat only 6-12 hours at a time. and we were preplanned. im single so im not sending money home which is a big plus. my co-driver is getting annoyed but anywhere you go youre gonna have hiccups. crst is a training company plain and simple, get your experience and get out.

I'm sorry for the decision you will regret. Join any other trucking mill. Before you waste time, go to nearest truck stop in your 4 wheeler and look at their trucks and talk with their drivers. Cant miss it. truck is never washed, broken plastics on the lower fascia. I know that doesnt define a company, but it catches the eye of the DOT, and you will be inspected. Remember violations go on your record too. yes they have new trucks, but almost anyone can be written up for "chaffed air lines". basically the little spring on the red air line digs into the nlyon hose causing a deep scratch. boom 18 points
