I was recently pulled over while driving bobtail in a non-truck route. I was maybe 100 yards in the town square before I parked it. The cop was no dout bored. :)
Since someone told me you are not concidered a truck while driving bobtail. So are you considered a truck while in bobtail?

Restricted routes typically are posted by a sign that listed the maximum registured weight. Since most OTR trucks are 80,000, if there was a sign, they got you. Yes, I know it isn't right, but it's the law.

As to the legal definition, when you ARE NOT UNDER DISPATCH AND BOBTAIL, you are NOT considered as a freight carrying commercial vehicle, but your registered weight NEVER changes.

Thats a first for me. Ive never in over 20 years trucking been told that Im NOT a truck when Im bobtailing. LMAO...just when u think youve heard it all. Driving a class 8 truck will ALWAYS be a class 8 truck. Be safe out there drivers.

And now for something completely different. The intent of the law was not for bob tail trucks. It was for Cargo carrying trucks. The sign that was posted has a picture of a truck with a cargo box on it. If you don't look like that then why does it effect you. Pickup trucks are trucks. They go down those roads. I would go to court and plea not guilty.

I also would never go down a road marker like that in a class 8. Bob tail or not.

get with the program driver. Come join the rest of us in the 21st century. ELogs have a line 5. Contrary to your belief, not all drivers are on paper logs.
