On days I'm dealing with a shipper/reciever, I wear my khakis or jeans and a nice shirt. Otherwise I dress comfy.in sweats or shorts.

Solid black or green v neck, or a stripped tee, clean jeans, and red wing waterproof work boots. All fit like they should and are still fully intact. I wore a polo and khakis at my last job, but I don't see the point out here. Clean, work appropriate clothes are important, and you can't really over do it, but I'd rather grease up a $25 pair of jeans than my $60 khakis. It hurts less when I go to replace them.

The only thing that really bothers me is when people wear torn clothing or offensive tee's. this is work after all.

I was at our terminal a few weeks ago and this guy was in the orientation class with shorts and a T-shirt with "CAN YOU SEE ME NOW #######" on the back. What a way to put your best foot forward. Now I understand that many people coming into trucking might be there with the only clothes on their back, but there are still some things you don't do.

I tried to keep my polo style shirts on the truck, hung up in the closet. The plastic hangers rubbed holes in the shoulders from the molding edge on the hanger. Had to throw a few shirts away. I dress clean, with jeans, work boots, and plain (no logo or writing) well fitting T-shirts. I will represent the company I haul for with a clean hat when I go into shippers and receivers. A plain Walls brown coat does me well when it's cold. If I find some good hangers I might get back to the collared shirts (I like em) but it's pointless to put on when it looks like a map of West virginia.

I am not a big fan of any company that I will pay for their (cat/pete/whatever) hats or shirts or whatever, besides it's crazy to pay a company so you can wear their logo and advertise for them.

My company allows us to wear jeans- however, they must not be faded, cut, ripped or have holes in them. Always have my uniform shirt tucked in. If I get really dirty at a delivery, I will stop and change clothes before my next stop. I always carry a travel bag with a few days worth of clothes in the side box.

I often times deal with the with the people who write the check for the product I deliver. A driver can make or break a companies image really quick. I've always tried to be a good representative of my company.

When I worked for Walmart in receiving, some of the Swift dedicated fleet drivers came.in wearing shorts, wifebeaters and flip flops. As opposed to the Walmart drivers who always wore their uniform shirts.

The first day I went to orientation, I had on a nice pair of jeans with no holes, rips, tears, and weren't hanging below my #####, and a nice black polo shirt with a collar. As I looked around, almost everybody else in the room was in cargo shorts, t-shirts, ripped jeans, sagging jeans, way oversized clothing for their size. The drivers on light-duty at the terminal looked about the same.

I don't dress up for this job, but I don't go into places looking like a slob. Back when I was the boss, I would be professionally embarrassed if I got a phone call about one of my guys acting out of line, so I could only imagiane how something like that would make both me and my dispatcher at this company feel.

    Me too.

I think slacks are not practical, though. Way too thin, plus this can be a dirty job.
    Jeans.

In hot weather I wear a t-shirt - always clean.
In mild or cold weather a button down shirt (well, my current shirt has snaps, but same difference).

I try to present a good image for my company, both in my dress and in my demeanor.
Sadly to say, many in my company don't feel the same way.

I too stick with the plain tshirts and jeans now. I wore nicer shirts before and I still carry a couple in case I get that feeling at a receiver or at places where I know they treat us like we are dirt anyway. This way I look better than the guy/girl looking down their nose at me. The reason for the switch is I've ruined two dress shirts with 5th wheel grease or a snow/mud mixture when I slipped. Still, as long as you are clean and professional I think you are okay. Kudos to those who take it to th next level.
