Maybe a silly question, but I have only seen my DAC in the training department. How do I check it myself?

I believe you can get a free report sent to you once a year. Here is the site: https://www.hireright.com/Disputes/Report.aspx

They will not put anything on your DAC till you are no longer with the company. That is how the reporting works. Most company's blatantly do not follow the rules on other things with it, but tend to follow that one. They have no problem making false reports, which is a felony btw, putting false info onto someones credit report. And DAC follows the same laws as a financial credit report.
Also, the person reporting has to be someone directly over you. As in Dispatcher or terminal manager. Nobody else at the company can legally add to that report. Also, if a company goes out of business, the info must be removed,
DAC is a paid, for profit service. It is not affiliated with any government agency. And use of the service is not mandatory. Large carriers like to use it to speed up background checks and other things. But most small company's do not report to them or use the service in any way.

Is it turning on but spitting out cold air? How much fuel is in your tank? Your pilot light might be out.

With the Webasto heaters, they're easy to use, but they can be picky. You must have more than 1/4 tank of fuel to use the bunk heater. If you turn it on below 1/4 tank, it screws everything up. So, before you try and fix it, make sure there's fuel in your tanks.
Turn the truck off, set the brake, make sure the heater is totally off.. Go pop off the battery cover. Somewhere on the batteries will be a large fuse, encased in a usually black plastic oval pouch looking thing. Yes, I'm descriptive. IF you pop it open you'll see the fuse, I think it's a 20amp.

Pull the fuse out. Wait 10 minutes. Put the fuse back in. Go into the truck, turn the heat on. Go outside the truck and listen for a clicking noise. Give the truck 5 o 10 minutes, and feel to see if there's hot air.

If there isn't, turn the heater off, go pull the fuse, and start the process all over again.

If you have heat, then it's fixed.

I had this happen to me, and that's how OTR had me fix it. It took an hour, and I pulled the fuse at least 3 times, I think maybe 4. It finally clicked and I had heat. I didn't realize there was some kind of pilot light, and heck, that may not be exactly what it is, but it's what OTR called it. But any way, I'm guessing it's a stop gap measure to keep the bunk heater from taking all the fuel if left on for many days.

    Hope this helps.

Hey all! Merry Christmas to everybody!

I don't think I asked this question, but if I did I apologize. In my first year at central, what is a realistic amount of money I would make? I'm not just doing this for the money, but I'm looking at all aspects and I just wanted to realistically know what I would make in my first year. I know it won't be much, just what are some realistic numbers?

From everyone I've observed and what I've gathered reading between the lines, this is almost impossible to answer. Somewhere between $25k and $50k... You, your DM, the truck you drive, the runs you are on, whether or not you get a fender bender, whether you become a trainer, and just dumb luck play all play a huge part in year one. I'm halfway through it now and I can't believe the amount of information I've had to digest this year. It's not for everybody and it's definitely not a get rich quick type job. If you can make it six months with a good safety record and deliver everything on time, you can become a trainer and get paid the big bucks but your maintenance will be a little higher and you'll be running your truck into the dirt. If you "mess up" but still run well and know how to manage yourself and your "business" you can make 30-40. If you're smarter than me and patient you can get on a dedicated fleet and make the same money with more sleep and possibly more home time. Clear as mud?

So I get to the Pilot at Fernly NV (ex46) about ready to go over Donner. I hear a few guys saying it was a female dog getting over it, so I figure I'm mt and don't want to mess with that so I park and take a shower. Eating dinner I see a guy with weather.com up on his laptop so I ask how Donner looks. He says it's clear a little slush on the road, but there's a big storm supposed to roll in at 0400 and just get worse. Guess when my 8 is up? 0500!!!! Looks like I should have just ran it tonight. Trust but verify I should have just looked it up myself. Lesson learned
