Stop in there once in a while. That is one depressing place. Was there last night, a nasty experience. Dirty, dark with a handful of the most rude unprofessional people I have ever seen. Will not be stopping there again. Just wondering if it has went downhill or that is how it is all of the time?
What is everyone elses favorite Truck Stop in the Kansas City area?

Seeing that one dump would be enough for someone that does not drive want to make darn sure they never have to drive a truck. What a POS place.

Little further out, but I always liked the Petro in Oak Grove.
drvrtech77, fr8monkey, EZX1100 and 2 others Thank this. -
I don't remember the mile marker... I think it was 27 on I70 east of KC.. you have the Oak Grove 70, a TA, and... I don't remember what the other one was. I've shut down at the one you're talking about twice. The first time is when I was with Swift.. the lot was full, so I joined the drivers who had parked on the side of the road leading to the truck wash across the street. As I turned around in the cul-de-sac, my emergency air line popped off, and I had to step out of the truck to put it back on. This man approaches me, offers to sell me a tv, tells me he has a woman working the lot he'll send my way, etc. I told him, "no thanks", gave him a cigarette, and he went away. As I'm in the sleeper doing my paperwork, I hear a knock on my door. I look out my window, and there's this woman standing there. A very hideous woman, I might add. I thought maybe she worked at the Blue Beacon and was telling me I needed to move (she was wearing jeans and a jacket, as it was cold outside and snowing). When I found out her intentions, I was disgusted... when I say she was hideous, I mean HIDEOUS. That was also one of only two times a lot lizard approached me (only about a year and a half total of my driving career was OTR).
The second time was in 2011, when I was running for a fleet owner with CRST Malone. Some woman came to my door to ask for money, and I was listening on the CB where another driver with a stepdeck had gotten stuck in some huge pothole in a fuel center across the street from the Flying J.
I stopped there for about an hour one more time in 2011 after delivering in KC until I got a call for my next load. I was annoyed, because they didn't have any pizza.
The one good thing, though, is that they have a Fleet Pride next door. -

Thank you
That is a great story. Yea I think I must have seen that same woman or maybe her sister. -
Did you know if you put a link to Flying J in the post they will find it and might do something about it. If enought say things about them.
-
I am not sure but I did not think that we were supposed to post links. What I should of done is taken some pictures and videos and posted them here and youtube.

There is or was a little conoco station right near one of the entrances to the "caves". I think there was a casino nearby also.....lots of parking and no one bothered you. That flying J was a dump about 5 years ago, last time i was there...

I also like the QT of I29 in Platte City....
not alot of parking though, so get there early.
