Sorry, I'm not patient enough to read miles of threads on dash cams. I am looking for a front and side view system that's affordable. Any suggestions?

So you want to be able to view AND RECORD on three cameras, correct? (front windshield and 2 outside cams pointing back on left and right?)

    A. If so, how many hours or days do you want to be able to record before it loops and begins to record over again?

    and

    B. What is "affordable" in your estimation?

    ralph and Sumothertrucker Thank this.

use 1 dash cam (ta has them for 99.98 ) aim it so it can see the nose mirrors...... do a upgrade to a 32 gig card.. that will give you 8 hr's of 720 HD before it loops set it for 1-3min record time

Correct. One forward and two rearward. As long as the the quality is there I guess I'd spend a couple k but would like to keep in the $500 or less range. The only one I've seen for this style is from Windshieldcam.com. That looks like what I'm after but awful pricey. Would like to go 4 to 5 days before it loops back.

    • Cam 1: inside windshield or dash pointing forward, 150 degrees wide angle, day/night low lux
    • Cam 2: outside on left mirror pointing backward, 120 degrees, infrared night vision, waterproof
    • Cam 3: outside on right mirror pointing backward, 120 degrees, infrared night vision, waterproof
    • DVR (max of 4 cams) with 250 gb hard drive. This size allows for approx 6 days of continuous recording before over-writing oldest.
    • 7" dash monitor and all wiring
    • GPS enabled for viewing video simultaneously with a Google map overlay when using an internet-enabled computer

This would run about $1,195. (link)

There are many variations, like bigger hard drives, heated cameras, dual monitor for the bunk, trailer disconnect, etc.

I don't know of any that do what you are looking for for $500 though.

Hope that helps clarify it somewhat.
