Do most companies pay W-2 or 1099?

I will try to address all the comments, but forgive me if I leave something out. First let me tell you about the day I just had. I had to go to the terminal to talk to the dispatcher and pick up a couple pieces of equipment. My dispatcher was trying to find me a trailer for my load on Monday. We got about 6" of snow last night and it is still coming down hard. I walked around looking for the trailer for about an hour because he gave me the wrong number at first. I finally found it and it looked to be loaded. I had to use one of the small window cleaner brushes to clear the deck and find out what was on it. Turns out that it was just 8 4x4's that who ever dropped the trailer left on there. It looked like a load because there was about a foot of snow on it and he had strapped them lengthwise 4 in front and 4 in the back. Then I had to get all my tarps and other stuff loaded on the snow covered trailer.

Okay on to the comments. I have no clue the size of the sleeper. It is small. I think the double bunks are 72 and the single are about 55-60. I really do not know. They issued 3 trucks when I got mine and 2 were single bunk 9400, one was a 09 prostar, and one was a double bunk 9400.

I got a truck with e logs and it has a built in nav unit. All the trucks will have them in the next 5-6 months I have been told. I also have a Rand TND 720 and I may sell it if I like the one on the Qualcom.

I Make 26% since they gave me 3 years credit for my army experience.

I have got in the habit of writing down all my load info as well as the pay every load so I will not have any issues there. They also email your pay stub so you can compare everything on the road. I have a bunch of note books courtesy of the army.

SHC, Blind Dog and MJ1657 Thank this.

Keep your Rand 720. Qualcomms go dead, or have to be reset (they know this, this is why they gave you a paper log bog along with your elogs).

Congratulations on your truck. The load pay is crazy good for your 1st load. How many miles on your truck? Is there room inside for a fridge and a microwave?

If I told the dispatcher I was worried about getting home I probably would have got a ###### load going home, however I told him I am not concerned about home time now just send me where the money is. I told him I was willing to go anywhere from Texas to Canada if it pays good. He was working a load of wallboard to get me home, but as soon as I told him that he gave me a load. He was looking for about an hour for a load home before that.

There is plenty of room for a microwave and fridge if you do not mind sleeping with a microwave and fridge. Honestly though there is a little shelf space at the foot of the bed. There is a couple small cubbie holes that you can shove some clothes in and a 3' by maybe 2' shelf at the foot of the bed. and then there is another shelf up high about the same size. Not much room for a fridge , but could easily fit a microwave. I am just gonna go get a medium 12v cooler and use that.

I use atlas for routes, and google maps for specific directions to shipper/receiver. You can even use satellite picture to see if theres parking, etc...
