Any of you know of some positive forums for building business, further self education, etc....for freight agents? I like TheTruckersReport for general conversation and learning about different companies, but I'm looking for a more positive, supportive forum also, maybe specifically for freight agents/brokers, to continually learn about the business. I drove for 25+ years and became a freight agent 5 months ago. I'm maintaining, but need to grow my business, always have room for knowledge and growth.
Thanks!!
Hey fellow freight brokers/agents/coordinators....

I've found LinkedIn to be helpful, but the TQL Sharks circle every thread asking for capacity help. Who are you an agent for?
-
The same blue star you are. I use my linkedin for networking, not the forums. And yes, I've been contacted by several 3pl's via linkedin including TQL. I do not, and will never deal with TQL. Just a personal choice, due to past dealings and current calls that I get from them.
-
Doesn't it just piss you off? I can't get a couple of them to quit calling me offering us "greener pastures." I'd recommend the Ranger2 FB page to network with BCO's as well as BCO forum. As far as building business contacts, you won't really find a forum for that. I'm currently working on something to that affect in our private LinkedIn group. Feel free to join it and the private group we have here on the TTR forums. What's your agency code?Homebrew Thanks this.
-
FWH is the agency code, I'm just an agent, its a bigger company with 9 offices Nationwide. Didn't know about the private groups, thanks.
-
What kind of freight does your particular FWH office specialize in?
-
Heavy on the broker if he's a Marks' agency.
-
I've seen the code before but not frequently. Hey, at least he's not MRE would anyone admit to it if they were? Lol

Mostly flatbed freight, legal and OD, some van and some power only. I have a few direct customers so I don't move too much brokered freight. The reason I started this thread was to find some sort of positive forum. It may be fun to take shots at other agencies or agency owners, but when it comes down to it, I'm in business for myself and am looking for ways to improve my business. Does anyone want to work the broker boards, no not really. Thanks for the suggestions so far, but if this thread is going to go down the bashing and negativity path I'll bow out now and ask the mods to delete it.

I wasn't knocking your agency relax. I was knocking an agency well known for lots of cheap freight all over the country. They don't have much of a BCO fan club either. You limit your potential viewing broker boards the way you do but understandably it's a touchy subject.
