Well I hope that local gig works out well for you.

I have 5 places that I'm looking at but only a couple I'm actually considering. Kutzler Express, General Pet Supply (local gig) and U.S. Xpress I'm considering although I have offers from Schneider and Sisbro Inc., which is Sharkey Transport.

    DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

I hear ya man. Hope things go well too.

I'm mainly doing the local thing to save up money faster. I plan to go back over the road later this year but not as a company driver, I plan to have my own truck and trailer running my own numbers from Florida to Georgia and back.

Or I may go work for my buddy who has a long nose Pete running from savannah, Ga to Tennessee and back. He's got another truck he'll be putting on the road. So ill drive his and he'll drive his other Pete

Yeah, I'm leaning toward driving for my friend then buying the truck from him.

Yeah that's a great option as long as he has the miles for you which it sounds like he would. The pay would be better since you would end up being a contracted driver and would end up having to provide your own health insurance and that sort of thing.

    DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

Yep, Marshfield to get my CDL first. Ya I know...rolling cubicle heh heh. But the view will be more varied than staring at a computer screen all day writing software. Did that for almost 29 years, now on to do something else. Also why I went for flatbed -- from reading what you guys have posted here, it seemed more physical and varied.

And good luck to you DD in your new plans. I've already learned a lot about what you guys go through day-to-day, both on this thread and the Roehl Driver's Check-in thread -- it's great that we have forums like this.

DrtyDiesel, Bayle and Bigdubber Thank this.

I am heading for Roehl training also. I start on the 7th of January. Leaving from Rhode Island tomorrow morning. I am a little nervous. Starting a new career after 31 years in the Air Force.

Maybe I'll start to miss mine also; I just felt it was time to do something different for awhile.
