Well you said you hired on as a city"driver", but you have been working on the dock.. OK ? Would you call the cable guy to fix your plumbing? Would you call a roofer to repair your car? So what are you a driver or a dock worker ? Maybe you could tell the TM to jump on a forklift since he was hired to be the "TM" and see how he likes it... I am a driver, you ask me to worked the dock I stack up 3 pallets and then knock it over... And then tell them I drive a truck ..I dont load trailers !!

 

Actually at most trades, when you are an apprentice, you will not be doing the real work for quite a while. You haul supplies, inventory them, clean up, etc... Then you finally get the chance to do the most menial tasks like running conduit for electrical, making endless "stock assemblies" in plumbing, mixing mortar for masonry work.

All while learning the trade from the beginning.

And what is the deal with "owning" your route? Do you need to pay to get a route? I guess there are delivery routes, shuttle routes and line haul?

I know one route near chicago that was sold from one driver to another for over $100K!!!!!

Move on; too many good CDL jobs out there, don't waste your time being a lumper/janitor with FedEx.

 

Can you with stand the financial pressure (not getting the hours) if not then you need to discuss it with the terminal manager and make your decision from there.

 

I do heavy haul, I don't make coffee, shag do nuts, mop floors. I'm not vain. I don't want to learn how to load a truck, I pretty much have that down. So use my skills or punk off.
