So.... I know all companies ban weapons etc. and some states etc. My question is..... in reality can a company driver
have a firearm in the truck for protection. I'm thinking the percentage of drivers that have guns, has got to be fairly high.
Just saying.....

In reality, for a company driver that is employed by a company in which weapons are banned, it is a bad idea to carry.

Their truck, their rules. Violation usually means, no job.

What do I need a firearm for? I'm not one of those that is afraid of their own shadow. SMH

in reality you can carry anything you like in the truck, and in reality its most likely no one will ever find out. BUT.....
what good would it do you? if you ever used it, everyone would know then. and that would be the end of your career.
and even if you never had cause to use it...whats gonna happen when you get pulled over by the police? gonna lie to them about it? not sure about the legality of it, but im pretty sure it would at least land you in jail for the night. and again, lose your career.
well, but im not gonna GET stopped by the cops, cause ill drive perfectly all the time. ok, but what about the weigh station that pulls you in for the routine inspection? what about the simple border guard thing that we ALL go through when in texas? most companies will have you go to laredo sooner or later if youre otr. and definitely dont pick a carrier that goes into canada. that would be no joke whatsoever.
all in all, id rather be a little less safe and a little more honest. not suggesting you are inherently dishonest, but what you are suggesting doing would force you to lie more than a couple times. wouldnt be worth it to me...in most scenarios, a tire thumper or a good heavy flashlight will work almost as well. if the guy pulls a gun, chances are slim youll be able to respond quickly enough anyway.Voltrucker and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
Friend of mine got jacked in Oakland bout 6 yrs ago then he went and got a 45 theeen he got caught with it by Port of Oakland LEOs thru the laser scanner. It picked it up. It was under his bunk. Bunch of questions later and a rimming from the company they let him drive away. Company wrote him up but he didnt get fired he is one of the veteran drivers here and driver of the year for like 4 yrs thruout the 9 yrs hes been here. So he got lucky.

Carry a blade no longer than 4 inches long, a three pound hammer, and a fifth wheel puller. All three can kill.

This is just a question....what about a paintball gun? They make a wide assortment of different balls including some with pepper spray, a stench ball, and skull crushers. Less than lethal force....don't want to take it to a gun fight. Any thoughts?

I've had three truck searches in 15 years. There are more snoops at company shops if you turn your back. The main reason for no guns in company trucks is the same reason the office doors are locked.
Avoidance, know your surroundings and park in numbers and your odds are greatly in your favor. Crooks don't want 100 witnesses. They want someone that is isolated. In a truck stop there is always a set of eyes on every movement. Some say you can't always control your surroundings. Yes you can. Nobody says you have to park in a danger area overnight. Park outside the area and go in and out when it's time.
Every gun story I ever heard was one driver shooting another driver over a CB fight. Don't get in CB fights.NavigatorWife, AZS and 48Packard Thank this. -
