Yes, thank you for mentioning the chip as I forgot to. Mine has no battery back-up, but it does have the chip. Crete has never asked for mine but Schneider would have me mail it in quarterly. But since I basically told Crete to take a flying leap when it came to their "program" (also known as a racket), they've never asked. But I use it faithfully because of the benefits it has provided.

Any company you apply to should have the answers to these questions readily available. If they don't, pry for them. But with the awareness (and, in many cases, overzealous "enforcement") of SA ever-increasing, recruiters should know their company's policy.

This is what I mean when I use the term "racket". In so many cases, it's done "because it's coming down the pike anyway" without any regard for consistency or even accuracy. This is why, with all the issues Schneider has in other areas, I believe their sleep apnea screening program is the best and most honest and straight-forward I've run across or even heard about.

I just told Truckerdave1970 about this thead and he said 48Packard, you are a great source of information!
He would also agree re: Shneider as they did good by him also with his sleep apnea

I know-sometimes people tend to 'jump' the gun with recommendations-as a nurse I spend alot of time explaining this to people that recommendations are just that!

If I (well I asked Dave....) were the OP he said he has his 2yr cert so he is good to go!

I appreciate that. I'm far from the most knowledgeable, but I am grateful for what treatment has done for me. At the same time, I have an incredible level of disdain and intolerance for charlatans and profiteering in the name of "safety".

Welcome and Dave would say the same thing- day and night (no pun intended) once he got his CPAP and realized what a ''good'' night sleep was he said it was amazing! I can see even now that if he drifts off say, sitting on the couch or in the car (while I am driving) he doesn't last long before he wakes himself up choking! We keep a spare battery charger and inverters for the cars in case of power outage!

I agree with you on the profiteering too. I see it every day in the health care system.......

Thanks guys!! I actually sent myself for the test!! I know I had apnea (prob hereditary at least partly) was tired of being tired!! Wake up gasping and stuff! I am on an autopap!! Adjusts automatically to pressure I need thru out the night. Has a recorder chip but no battery back up. Still paying for it so wont be getting another one.

You'll be glad you did. Takes a bit of time to adjust to it, but in my case, in the five-plus years I've been using it, I've needed an afternoon nap twice. Two times is all. Can't believe the difference it made for me, but again, my case was on the severe end of the spectrum, so there was no doubt as to my need for it.

I wish you the best with it.

I can't say I LOVE mine...but I love the benefits! The mask and I still argue from time to time. I got angry at it the other morning and tossed it rather angrily away. It got even with me by breaking. Got it taped and glued up right now. I've only broken two in five years, so it's not bad. I use the full snorkel, and the part that always breaks is the adjuster part on the forehead piece. It's the smallest and most fragile portion, so it makes sense that it would, uh, fail.

    No thanks to me!
