YES!!! Hendrickson HTIS (earlier generation of what is now TireMaxx). Tire flat first-thing in the morning; fellow at the tire shop 20 min away thought I was a nut when he came out and found all tires were up. Oneperfectrun - were you running aluminum rims? My regular tire shop they will break loose easier than steel rims when one goes down.

You may want to reconsider running a van with a flat , don't quote me but I've heard with that stupid new 2010 CSA its a 6 point violation . But in all seriousness not sure why you would want to run with a flat tire to begin with ? Under a heavy load you risk destroying and chunking an aluminum rim ,furthermore the tire could inadvertently not inflate and come off bouncing distracting an oncoming vehicle or hitting one and god forbid a motorcycle is in its path . Just some food for thought the next time you don't have time to have it properly inflated with an air tank made for this , of course back in the day and even today people use ether starting fluid to pop the tire back on its rim . I don't suggest it as it can in the wrong hands be dangerous but it can be done. Good luck ! Happy 2013 . :Wheel:

Yes, it has happened to me also. I was shocked that it would seat a bead and air up but it sure did.

I don't make it a habit of running with a flat tire at anytime. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta according to the circumstances.

I have used ether plenty of times to seat tires. Actually used it less than a month ago to seat tire to take air.

I was just wondering how many have seen this happen. I know of a few personally. I was more or less called a liar in another forum when I mentioned this happening. I can understand someone that has never seen it happen to be skeptical. I was skeptical the first time I heard this myself!

Was the tire just flat or was the bead off the seat of wheel completely?

The trailers I pull have them installed and it must be how they are setup as they are practically useless. They will stop filling the tire when the pressure falls below 84psi. The hoses that run from the hub frequently leak and will keep leaking air until the tire is flat. the hoses get "plugged" so you can't add air or check pressure without removing it.

I suppose I'll just have to find a manual on them to figure out what is going on.

When the company I worked for at the time first started getting the trailers with the air systems, I thought to myself, these things are only gonna be a headache. In my experience I was wrong. I've never had trouble out of any of them. O/O now an I pull a flatbed that belongs to the company I'm leased to. Getting ready to buy my own trailer and hopefully will have the system on whatever I get.
