Happy New Year! I am looking to get back into trucking after a few years off, and am thinking about Shaffer as one of the possibilities. Can anyone tell me what kind of miles one could expect? Is it possible to get through Missouri a couple times a month for home time? Paper logs or e-log? I would appreciate any current info, good and bad about Shaffer, thanks.

i haven't been with them in over a year and only had one year with them but as far as my experience goes, they were switching more and more trucks over to elogs but not all as of a year ago. i quite often went through missouri. they advertise different home times for some people. I worked on the 21 day out deal but i usually stayed out longer jsut cuz i really have no reason to go home. I had good months and i had bad months but overall for the year i got my 110,000 miles or whatever they say to expect. i sxtill wish i didn 't screw up with them but i finally found a small company to hire me and am pretty darn happy now. Good luck with them if you choose to go that route

i just got approved and i should be in orientation on the 28th! Ill be on the six days out, then 34-48 hrs at home run out of greensboro, nc...they said ill be starting at .41 cpm with an average of 2000-2300 miles per week. ive only had home daily dedicated runs since ive been driving, so ill have to start using my hours of service lol...the only time ive dealt with hours of service was in cdl school in 2005! so it should be an interesting month or so till i get the hang of it....also, ive been doing 48 foot flat beds so a 53 foot reefer should be interesting lol...its only five more feet so ill have to pay a little more attention for a little while anyway...

You will have a good Terminal Manager to work with there. Dan and Laura were both stand up folks to work with in helping with any problems.

Yes they are in Greensboro. I went to New Kingstown, PA for orientation. I am from Durham. They rented a car for me and I drove up there. Best of luck to you.
