Darn, i was hoping we could put this coax length debate
to rest. It will surface again another day.
This is one that will not go away.

Prove your case, provide references, show your math. None of you have ever tried to do this. Ever. So it is merely yet another opinion.

Covered well in a book titled "Reflections". Sorry to hear that Walt passed recently, He was great fun to have conversations with on this very subject. Sometimes He would come in on various sites and back up my comments. He did a great job putting people with opinions like yours to shame. I know I will miss Him. We got along very well and I believe He was one of the smartest people in RF engineering to live in the 20th century.

I haven't read all the posts here cause I really don't care about the debate all that much. However, the 2 trucks mentioned here are somewhat unique in their factory mounting. The Volvo still uses the mirror brackets and the shaker has the mounts on the sides of the cab but still on the aluminum walls. Both have the mounts in metal. KW and Pete have the cab- side mounts on the fiberglass roof cap, does this not present another problem?

I really don't see what difference coax length could make when most of it is wadded up across the dash or up in the headliner depending on where the radio is. I'm just waiting for someone to pop in with the old "You'll never get your antennae 9 feet apart anyway" comment not realizing that the truck is around 8'6" wide and the antennae are out on the mirrors so that's about right where they are.

Yes you did. By your statement you imply you have a solution. If you did not, then you would not think it needs to be put to rest because it would then still be an open unanswered question.

With what evidence do you impute emotions above calm in me requiring you to state I should calm down. A very deceitful thing it is to try impressing an opinion of my emotional state to people in a public forum when you have no knowledge with which to make the assessment you just did.

Well actually it does make a lil difference but not much of a difference the longer the coax less the power you could lose .5-2db depending on length and type of coax
