I will be going to schneider orientation december 31st in indy and was wondering when you are paid for orientation? Are you paid weekly? or after you have completely finished orientation? I am fresh out of truck driving school Also i am signed up for the weekly hometime job 6 out 3 home. How much money can i expect to make first yr?

How much you make all depends on how many miles you can put down. The 6 on 3 off schedule limits your miles compared to staying out several weeks. You can be making anywhere from $14000-$35000 per year depending how many miles you can get.

But I would say most likely in the $25,000 - $30,000 per year for a new driver making 26-28 cpm

bigger issue is going to be with this schedule there will be weeks where there are only 4 days of driving in that particular payweek. Hometime was awesome that way but it goes 3 weeks straight of 4 days paid, 1 week of 5 days on a pay and then 1 6 day week. Did thi schedule for 6 months. Just couldnt hang with those kind of checks. Dedicated work now. Much more reliable money EXCEPT for this slow period the account is in now.

Wish me luck everyone, heading for Green Bay on the 7th to start my new career, looking forward to meeting the hopefully patient and experienced TE that they are supposed to set me up with, any last minute tips you folks got that can help would be appreciated.

Good luck. Just listen to what they tell you, and hopefully you get a good TE. That can make all the difference. Oh, and keep your expectations reasonable. You'll do fine.

Thanx dermetzgerei, I plan on taking notes and just generally tryin to be a sponge and soakin it all up. As far as expectations......I'm new to the company so I will demand and expect everything to be my way up to and including making 6 figures a year and only driving 2 hours per day, and that's if I feel like it:biggrin_25525: , seriously though, thanks. Can't be worse then my last job.
