Run but you can't hide. Hopefully every company doesn't start this.

    #### this ########. I woke up a few minutes ago ago and it was 40 degrees again. Outside temp is 14. I got 4 hours of sleep and woke up shivering(and I still am). You tell me how the hell I am supposed to get a restful night of sleep when I am waking up shivering. This is not just about personal comfort, this is a safety issue. The ####### bunk heaters are not supposed to shut down because the batteries got low. Their purpose is to keep us warm when the #### engine can't.

Oh great, the #### thing still isn't letting me idle.

My DBL is in nice and early this morning. Talking to him about this now.

His response was to ask me how long the heater had been on. Was on for about 5 hours since the last time I idled up from hitting the LVD once.

Also told me that they tell us we should carry extra blankets and stuff during the colder months. No ####. I live in ####### Wisconsin. I have camped in colder weather. I am well aware of the need to carry extra supplies in cold weather to deal with problems. I have 5 blankets and my sleeping bag. No, I didn't use them when I went to sleep last night. I used my comforter and a sheet because when I went to sleep it was 76 degrees inside the truck. The extra blankets should be saved for emergencies where I have no way of getting electricity or fuel for the bunk heater. Not used every night because they are too cheap to spend 20 bucks on fuel.

He sent messages to his managers and is going to let me know what they have to say. If their response is to tell me to put more blankets on before I go to bed I may just drive home and quit. I don't see them piling 50lbs of blankets over them at night to stay warm. Oh right, they are in their beds at home with a furnace that will run all night without them even thinking about it.

Whoever put these things on the truck should be fired. They are going to lose a lot of drivers. It doesn't help that they seem to have bought the cheapest crap they could find either. If you're going to do this how bout a limited test run on a few trucks to make sure the things actually work as advertised.

Can't wait to get out of this job now.

No, you see other companies that don't want their drivers idling do it by purchasing and installing APUs or other means of keeping the truck warm and powered without the need to run the engine. Their drivers have to need to idle. Even if they did have the sensor, it wouldn't matter because they would still have an APU to keep the truck warm when the sensor malfunctioned.

Understood. I guess Schneider is the new Werner. Slower trucks and no APU included with idle sensors. I'm in SC right now idling because my bunk heater went out yesterday night. They just told me to keep track of it. This wont hurt my bonus chances. This'll be my last night idling since I'm going to Charlotte tonight to get the bunk heater fixed and the ambient sensor put on.

Are you interested in dry van only or are you up for reefer too?

If you have the experience I would consider other options.
