Depends how long you have been out of the saddle. You wouldn't do the whole CDL school again, probably a driving test, orientation and out with a trainer.

    Week 1 of grad fleet.

According to DM, I am doing great. Avg over 500 miles per day, qcomm and paperwork ok.

Why dont I feel like I am doing well? Have dropped load on time only once. Been drivivg full hrs, arrivivg at location for shut down sometime with only minutes till out of hours.

Backing skills I dont feel up to speed yet. Nasty one yesterday, blindside back, block traffic in 4 lanes to back into receiver.

On top of that, in Las Vegas rush hr traffic, stopped at light, look in mirror, see car up against trailer tandems. Get out to look, maybe accident, driver punches me, drives off. Notify safety, standing by now.

I dont know if I am ready for prime time.

If you are running your full hours you should be averaging at least 600 miles (11hrs X 55mph = 605). Sounds like you need to pick up the pace a bit. Hope you got the driver's tag number and reported to police as well. That should be an assault charge. Good luck & keep your head up, it gets better.

We had an accident last night and I want to remind everyone to be very careful in your day to day work habits.
This driver lost a finger. He'll be ok, but the loss is borne in work habits.
He was sliding his tandems when the trailer 'jumped' and caught his finger. Apparently, he'd used his left hand to steady himself while pulling the pin for the tandem release. He'd set both the tractor and trailer brakes and in the process tweaked things so there was pressure between the two. When the slider pins retracted, the tandems slid, catching his finger.
Please be careful. Watch where you put your hands. Wear gloves.
And when sliding your tandems, remember to set your trailer brakes, but not the tractor. This prevents a pressure buildup as the airbags deflate and prevents this type of accident.
He'll be ok. Fortunately, it happened to his center left finger and he's right handed.
Be safe out there everyone and be careful.

Oh crap, how is he going to flip off other drivers without a middle finger on his left hand? He'll have to get a prosthetic finger.

Kidding a side, things happen quickly around this equipment, good message Emul.

Guess I'm a bit confused. Whenever we move the tandems we pull both brakes, shut off the tractor, pull the button to release the pins, THEN start tractor, push in tractor brake and slide tandems. With the old trailers with the bar, leave trailer brake pushed in, pull tractor brake, shut off engine. After pins are retracted, pull trailer brake, start tractor, push in tractor brake, slide tandems. Am I doing things wrong??
