Depends what area you live in, Orlando and up you can find some companies like Prime, Swift, CRST and maybe Stevens, it depends. But if you a recent grad, there will be more options for you to start out with

Windy Hill. They have a terminal down in Orlando somewhere (Lakeland I think), and they hire students.

Yeah Windy Hill does hire right now, they're out of Eustis and mainly haul plants from Florida to the mid-west.

Roehl recruiters have told me they won't hire out of FL right now ..Regardless of what the website says when you enter your zip code

I'm having the same problem though to, the companies I want to work for don't hire out of FL for newbies. No offence to any body but I don't want to work for Swift/Werner/Schneider "type" companies..US Express won't even hire out of FL right now and they own Arnold in JAX and park their trucks in JAX..

OP, look into Conway truckload, they hire newbies (solos and teams) out of FL as long as you're north of Orlando and seem to be one of the better starter companies up there with Roehl..

i recently was in the same position as you. called just about all the big guys that offer training and no one was hiring! I had to have made about 20 phone calls all was a big NO. I live just south east of I4 which is just about most companies cut off. anything south of I4 is going to be real tough. I was just about to give up on looking and found CRST, Swift, and PAM/Driver Solutions will hire out of florida.. gotta start somewhere!

Do you have a friend or relative living in another state? Use their address. Hometime would be a problem, but after about 6 months, you can change jobs to a Florida company like CTL, United Van Lines, Florida Rock & Tank, Bekins, Allied Van Lines, etc.

Get all the endorsements plus passport & TWIC.

Central Refrigerated, Knight, Armellini, Windy Hill, Davis, Robert Bearden and many more. Most of the mega-carriers will too but I would personally try to find a good smaller company. Your chances of success are much greater at a smaller company! Check Craigslist frequently and also here is another site that may help:

    Good luck...
