Anyone know if the engine will ever actually shut down when the dpf gets full or when fault code says it's full? I have a 2009 Cascadia w/ series 60...truck is running as good as it ever has, but i have the check engine light and got a "dpf full" fault code. I'm wondering how long i have to get it in the shop because my ex-wife has all my money and i know how expensive filters are. I've noticed sometimes with these check engine lights, ya get one and might be able to run 500,000 more miles before anything really NEEDS to be done...and i know the dealer will tell me i need a whole new filter no matter what because that's what dealers do to me

sometimes it is not possible to purge DPF with button in cab and you have to take it to dealer to change DPF ore run purge procedure with DDDL

Hey-How are you?Based on the Cummins with a dpf in the 2009 KW i drive, you are dealer or repair shop bound to get the light off.I do a sitting still regen at least once a week and keep the idling low as i can.Keep thinking bad things about dealers and bad things at dealers will happen to you.Take care.Brian

I had one of the exhaust servo valves fail on the DPF system so that it wouldn't allow a regen, rolling or parked. It took about 500 miles before the DPF got so clogged that the ECM decided to turn the engine shutdown light on and shut the truck down. '09 Cascadia with a DD15. It's not too expensive to get the filter cleaned - you shouldn't have to replace it.

first of all, if u have DPF regeneration problems, do not keep driving it with problems, do not let DPF be full. Becouse sometimes clogged DPF cant be cleaned! I sugest you have DPF sensor wiring problems, ore regen. injector problem and DPF is full now)))
PLZ post me all DPF related code list from your truck!fooomanchu Thanks this. -

In the winter I like to idle at least ten minutes to warm the truck up, and of of course when the bunk heater or a/c goes out i need to idle. My whole life I was taught that semis idle and this is normal, and now all of a sudden in the new kinder gentler politically correct world we live in everyone is telling me how awful it is!
anyway thanks for the help and advice
